Fierce Focus: Big data fueling cloud growth, raining high-paying onshore jobs27 May, 2015
Technology Business Research says big data analytics fueled a 47 percent increase in revenues for the top 50 public cloud providers. While this is clearly a boon for cloud providers, and an additional cost reduction for big data users, it is also good news for onshore, highly skilled IT workers. Not so much for lower skilled workers and offshore professionals though.
According to the latest Technology Business Research findings: "the adoption of cloud computing is shifting the sales focus of these large firms [IT service providers] and evolving how they deliver IT services to clients as they leverage maturing automation capabilities to support outsourcing initiatives. As this model becomes more widespread, vendors are hiring fewer lower-skilled and lower-value employees in offshore and nearshore locations and adding higher-cost, onshore resources to provide cloud consulting and integration expertise."
