Founded in 1992 and purchased in 1997 by Gary Willert, the current owner and CEO, LMI began as a high quality remanufacturer of toner cartridges for the U.S. Market. Over the years, LMI expanded their consumables offering to meet the needs of a growing trend in the printing and imaging market—Managed Print Services. Nearly 20 years after the acquisition, LMI Solutions has greatly diversified its portfolio of products, solutions, and services for the North American market and has acquired or developed many new capabilities to help its reseller base not only survive, but thrive in the ever-changing printing and imaging market.

Three key pillars uphold LMI Solutions’ overall business model: R&D/Manufacturing, Distribution, and Services. In the last six months alone, LMI Solutions has added depth and diversity to their executive team, with the addition of Dan Todd as COO, Doug Johnson as CSO, and Terry Dixon as President.
R&D and Manufacturing
Core to LMI Solutions’ assets and competencies are their deep R&D and manufacturing expertise. LMI Solutions offers a wide range of remanufactured cartridges, with an emphasis on specially designed extended yield, MaxLife cartridges that dramatically lower the cost per page for Managed Print Services engagements. Through extensive development and testing, LMI also offers a full line of remanufactured color cartridges that meet the demands of any color user. In fact, during a recent Color Challenge test, users selected LMI remanufactured color as the best quality output at the same rate as the OEM output.
LMI has now taken that core knowledge of the MPS market, along with their R&D and manufacturing expertise, to design and introduce a line of remanufactured fusers and printers specifically designed for the quality, reliability, and cost parameters of MPS-focused resellers. Developing these together creates a ‘tuned” solution for resellers that ensures the highest quality and reliability at breakthrough cost of operation.
LMI Solutions was the first remanufacturer in the industry to embrace the Managed Print Services business model, adding deal crafting software, data collection software, and other services beyond their consumables early on to their reseller base. Today, the services portfolio continues to expand and now includes a wide range of options, including their award-winning Peak Performance sales training and marketing system, auto toner fulfillment, help desk/dispatch, and a national break/fix service network.
In addition, LMI Solutions offers customers multiple ways to buy, including cost-per-image (CPI) services that allow resellers to buy and sell pages instead of purchasing cartridges and piecing together the other costs necessary to support their MPS engagements. These CPI solutions mitigate risk for the reseller while providing predictable gross margins for their MPS engagements. The offering includes a growing range of both printer and copier/MFP-based models, OEM and remanufactured options, and inclusion of break/fix service for resellers without available service technicians in a given market.
LMI Solutions, through their acquisition of distributor Parts Now, offers the most experienced and comprehensive technical training and technical support team in the industry. Parts Now has trained more service technicians in the industry than any other entity, with the exception of the OEMs themselves, and the improved productivity and efficiency of these trained technicians has improved margins for resellers throughout the United States and Canada.
