Providers of print and copier supplies have spent many years building strong customer relationships. Today, however, increasing commoditization in the printer consumables market is steadily eroding their margins. This is forcing them to look at alternative ways to provide a service to their long-standing and loyal customer-base. One of the easiest services for any managed print provider wanting to expand its IT services offering is frontline security. For a start it doesn’t require a huge up-front investment. And for customers that do not have their own IT department but who want professional help managing their IT systems cloud-based protection from viruses and spam is a natural starting point.
For print dealers moving to a cloud services model selecting the right vendor to partner with is critical. We want to make life for services providers as easy as possible. We do this by introducing greater simplicity and tighter integration between toolsets. This, in turn, helps to keep costs down and improve squeezed margins. For example we provide our AVG CloudCare security managed services platform absolutely free and only charge for those services that are actually deployed with customers on a "pay-as-you-use" basis. We also provide free remote management tools, one-click service activation as well as easy policy deployment to help save resellers and Managed Service Providers time and minimize costly onsite visits. In June 2013 we acquired the business of LPI Level Platforms for its remote management & monitoring capability. This enabled us to add their open eco-system RMM tool, called AVG Managed WorkPlace®, to our SMB portfolio.
As a result AVG is the only vendor committed to providing simple, fully-integrated cloud-based tools supplemented by an open vendor-agnostic approach. All partners also receive close personal support for everything from training to marketing campaigns so that they can extract maximum efficiencies and reduce administrative overheads. We have already proven that this approach works. Growing numbers of resellers and other Channel partners use AVG CloudCare and AVG Managed Workplace on a daily basis to remotely deploy and manage security and IT services through the same single pane of glass on behalf of their business customers. We currently have over 2,500 active CloudCare and AVG Managed Workplace resellers worldwide – the vast majority of them have only become partners since the launch of our cloud services platform in 2012.
We see this as a journey and are committed to making additional applications available over time.
