IT Challenges Include Lack Of Cybersecurity31 Oct, 2013
We always like surveys to alert us to information in a specific market, and when it comes to IT security issues that is no different. Research suggests that more than half (52 percent) of companies, including security pros and business executives, say that there is a shortage of skilled IT staff which is contributing to the incidence of breaches in their organizations. Most believe believe their customers are also being affected.
Most say the problem is not just the fact that they're short on people but that the threat is increasing. Thus, if you're simply maintaining the staff you have, you've lost ground.
Today’s business environments also are increasingly complex, with major security concerns arising from the introduction of bring-your-own-device (BYOD) technology, cloud services, social media, and new, often unsecured, software.
Many businesses report social media as a security concern; some studies including a 2012 ISC study say most respondents are relying on content filtering as their chief security measure for social media threats.
Technology alone isn't enough to solve these problems. It takes skilled people to oversee/manage most of those devices and programs.
