Netgain Deploys UniPrint™ in the Cloud

28 Nov, 2012

Toronto, Canada - November 28, 2012 – UniPrint, a eader in printing virtualization, today announced that Netgain has chosen UniPrint as its printing solution for dedicated and private cloud service offerings.  UniPrint provides Netgain with a solution that enhances security, improves print speed and reliability, simplifies and centralizes printer management and solves location-based printing challenges for physician practices and rural hospitals.

Netgain provides secure, reliable and affordable solutions for handling complex IT deployments and hosting electronic medical records (EMR) and practice management systems. The company provides solutions to hundreds of healthcare organizations across the United States, often within a terminal server environment. Prior to the selection of UniPrint as Netgain’s printing solution, customers struggled with the redirection of print jobs and changing printer names, resulting in frequent crashes to the printing system. After evaluating and testing several different products, Netgain chose UniPrint to give its hosted clients an anywhere, anytime, any device solution that was simple, reliable, flexible and cost-efficient.

UniPrint solved Netgain’s location-based printing challenges by facilitating the centralized management and control of printer assignments, a key challenge for IT managers, especially in a corporate cloud environment. It also reduced support costs for the IT help desk because Netgain no longer had to deal with each different printer individually on the system. Netgain also improved the security of its solutions with UniPrint’s patented PDF-based Universal Printer Driver, which compresses print jobs into PDF files and encrypts them to remain compliant with healthcare regulations.

Brad Harrison, Director of Professional Services at Netgain, said, “When reviewing other products to find a solution, UniPrint became the clear winner for two reasons.  First, UniPrint was simple to deploy, and it had a streamlined user interface that was much easier to use than competitive solutions.  Second, it was the only product with a truly universal printer driver and the ability to keep a single name for each printer. UniPrint also meets the printing needs of our hosted clients by simplifying the headaches that come with multiple users logging on and off all the time in a cloud environment.”

“The healthcare industry is seeing a greater need for control and security as physicians and hospitals struggle to remain compliant with HIPAA mandates and other guidelines,” said Arron Fu, VP of Software Development at UniPrint. “Netgain needed a solution that could protect medical records and minimize the exposure of confidential patient documents in keeping with the strict and changing climate of the healthcare industry. UniPrint is easy to use, cost-effective and it provides the additional security measures that are a necessity in the field today.”
