United Stationers Releases White Paper on Office Supply Purchasing Trends19 Sep, 2012
Deerfield, IL- September 18, 2012- United Stationers has authored and issued a new white paper called: "Office Supply Spend Across Business Size," which details purchasing dollar benchmarks and trends across business size.
"The 'Empowered User' trend, which involves employees making their own purchasing decisions, has impacted not the amount the office spends, but how the purchasing process works," explains Carol O'Hern, United Stationers director of research, analytics and sustainability.
Employees are emerging as the new purchasing force, with 61 percent feeling "empowered" to make purchases for their own or their department's use. This dynamic is explained by mobile and work-from-home trends, as well as the convenience of widely available products in today's marketplace.
"Awareness of industry spend averages is helpful in managing office spend across business size and purchasing behavior trends," said O'Hern. "It is critical for resellers to understand these trends, or they may miss out on significant opportunities to capture market share."
In the paper, United Stationers provides resellers with recommendations, as well as step-by-step calculations to evaluate customers' per employee spend against 2012 industry benchmarks.
The white paper is available for download at www.ussco.com/home/index.asp.
