the office furniture industry picks up in 2005, so will the need to hire new
people. There are a number of job boards, such as Monster and CareerBuilder, but
none of them are tailored specifically to our industry.

Comprehensive Search, a personnel search services company and an OFDA Preferred
Partner, announced its intentions to launch a spin-off company targeting this
market, we wanted to get the details of the new company, CareerTrip, Inc., from
the source. The following are excerpts from a Q&A session with Jeffrey Brown,
president of Comprehensive Search and CareerTrip.

Why launch CareerTrip and who does it target?

Brown: The vast majority of the big players like Monster.com are not relevant to
our industry. Right now the big job boards are filling about 4 percent of jobs.
People are so disillusioned with these big players that more are turning to
niche boards, which are filling an estimated 15 percent of jobs. CareerTrip is a
niche job board dedicated exclusively to employers and candidates within the
interior furnishings and building products industries.

How much will this website service cost?

Brown: As an introductory offer, CareerTrip is allowing employers to post job
openings for free. Each posting, which will eventually cost $250, will be listed
for 60 days and, unlike many of the job posting websites, users will have the
ability to tweak their postings — or completely re-write them — at any time. As
always, OFDA members will receive an additional discount for both CareerTrip and
Comprehensive Search services.

Who would make the most use of this website?

Brown: CareerTrip was created to be the "next step" and/or a supplemental step
in your personnel hiring process after an above average candidate cannot be
found using internal efforts. CareerTrip offers users a wide variety of interior
furnishings and building products professionals from which

to choose.

For those readers that do not know Comprehensive Search, what can you tell them?

Brown: Although CareerTrip is a good starting point, there is only so much you
can tell from a resume. Comprehensive Search offers a more in-depth employee
profiling services called Profile XT. The Profile XT assessment instrument
measures employee potential and predicts job performance. Using this tool, plus
our background and reference checks, the likelihood of a successful hire almost

How does Profile XT work?

Brown: We have developed success profiles of high performers for virtually every
position within a dealership. By administering the Profile XT to the

candidate, the employer can assess the potential for that candidate by comparing
it to the success profile for that particular position. This is a much better
analysis of a candidate than a mere interview.

What incentive is there for CareerTrip users to also use Profile XT?

Brown: CareerTrip allows employers to inexpensively post openings on a website
dedicated to the interior furnishings/building products industry. If that fails
to produce a satisfactory candidate, the fee can be applied to a full search
service done by Comprehensive Search. The two services are intended to
compliment each other and,

together, can help any dealer find the right candidate.
