Japan Business Machine and Information System Industries Association (JBMIA)
announced copier shipment results from its member manufacturers in  the second
quarter of 2007.  Unit shipment for Japan’s domestic market has declined for
more than two years and this period resulted in 148,400 unit shipments, a 3.5%
reduction from the same period of last year.

Overseas market shows strong growth in color copier/MFP shipment, which
resulted in 186,000 units and 81.5 billion yen (approx. 700 million dollars), or
30% increased from the last year.

Canon Marketing Japan – Solutions Suitable for Proposals from Sales Partners
Canon Marketing Japan (CMJ) has been recommending “MEAP Security Pack” and
“ImageWare Publishing Manager” as solutions for their sales partners to easily
make proposal sales to customers. A new version has been released for both of
them with enhanced functionalities.  “MEAP Security Pack” has a combined
security and document management system, using IC cards which attract lots of
attention from offices, and is selling at a package price of Yen 236,000
(approx. $2,000), discounted for  a limited time until March 31, 2008.

The Document Solutions Dept. has come back to being a part of the Business
Product Planning Division (from IT Solutions Planning Division) in order to
enhance integrations with devices (MFP and printers). By sharing the same floor
with the Business Document Equipment Products Planning Dept. (in charge of
hardware), they are trying to provide seamless solutions.

“Recently, customer interest on IC card information security has increased.
For internal control, as not only large corporations but mid or small size
companies are highly interested, we have provided security to respond in “MEAP
Security Pack.”  Also, we released version 3 of “ImageWare Publishing Manager,”
software easily creating proposals or to increase operation efficiencies.  They
are Canon-like solutions that make best the use of MFP output,” said Mr.
Onodera, Manager of Document Management Product Planning Dept.

Among lots of solutions the company has provided, these solutions are
suitable for mid and small company (color) imageRunner users that sales partners
are targeting, and are effective to replace other vendor machines.  They say it
will be an extremely low possibility that users who once start using these
solutions, will replace them with others.
