FlexPrint’s Strategies That Achieved Outstanding MPS
The recent recipient of imageSource’s 2011 Perfect Image Award for “Outstanding MPS Program,” FlexPrint, Inc. is no stranger to success.
Since its founding in 2005 by CEO Frank Gaspari, FlexPrint, a leading dealership headquartered in Tempe, Arizona, has grown by a whopping 703 percent, year-over-year for the past three years.
This success and exponential growth has thrust the company into the local and national spotlight. In addition to the recent Perfect Image Award, FlexPrint was recognized as one of the fastest growing privately held companies in America by Inc. magazine. They were also recognized by the Phoenix Business Journal three years in a row as one of the Best Places to Work, and by the Arizona Small Business Association as one of Arizona’s Top 50 Companies to Watch. In addition, Gaspari was recently recognized as one of the imaging industry’s 40 Most Influential People cited by The Week in Imaging magazine.
“I attribute our success to our proven business model, our depth of employee experience in the field, and our absolute commitment to exceeding our customers’ expectations,” says Gaspari. “We employ cutting edge technologies and innovative services that not only save our clients’ money and time, but help them reduce paper usage, energy consumption, and provide a more sustainable environment.”
Gaspari, a veteran of the document-output industry, founded FlexPrint after seeing the need for a national provider for managed print services (MPS). He’ll quickly tell you, however, that the company does a whole lot more than managed print.
“We’re supplying what the customer’s pain and need dictates,” he explains. “We do a good job of analyzing what’s going on within their organization, understanding their business, and understanding what they need. Some clients are more in tune with cost savings, so we can effectively help there. Some are looking for process improvement, so we can help here as well. Others are focused on green initiatives and we can assist them here, too,” says Gaspari. “Without question, many are interested in eliminating unnecessary discretionary printing and/or are interested in all of the things listed here.”
Basically, the FlexPrint business model has led them to grow at a rapid pace and position them to adapt to whatever industry shifts come their way.
"We are honored to be singled out by our peers for the success of our MPS program," said Gaspari. "We are a national leader in this industry as evidenced by this recent Perfect Image Award, and our nationwide presence. This recognition further validates the impact our solutions are having across the nation.”
Programs & Partnerships
A national, privately held company, FlexPrint has customers in various major markets. With its corporate headquarters in Arizona, and locations in Chicago and Los Angeles, FlexPrint currently has over 35,000 devices under management throughout the country. Staff works directly with C-level executives to bring absolute visibility to an expense that is typically unaudited.
One of the secrets to FlexPrint’s ongoing success is a consultative approach that allows them to customize a program that helps organizations’ to manage their internal paper output more cost effectively and efficiently. They’re also adept at helping customers reduce operating costs, eliminating redundancies, and reducing overall paper consumption within their company.
FlexPrint works closely with its customers to develop in-depth office printing and managed print services programs that align with their customers’ individual business goals. Programs are flexible and allow for people, processes and technologies to work seamlessly together. Because FlexPrint is vendor agnostic, they’re able to accommodate every customer’s need without a manufacturer’s restrictions. Every program includes a comprehensive cost-per-print approach and includes maintenance, supplies, and quarterly updates on printer usage and efficiency in one simple package.
“We never take a cookie-cutter approach,” explains Corey Rivard, VP of Sales Operations for FlexPrint. “What sets FlexPrint apart from our competitors is that we build our solutions based entirely on each customer’s needs. Our MPS programs are designed to grow with the customer and evolve with their changing business requirements.”
While keeping the customer satisfied is FlexPrint’s top priority, they couldn’t continue to meet customer needs so adeptly without the right people in place. Indeed, providing superior customer service begins with a great work environment, and that philosophy goes into everything they do, including offering comparable salaries to in-office activities and events. Regarding company employees, the number has grown from just three in 2005 to over 100 today, and staff members are generously awarded for high performance, innovative ideas, and ‘can-do’ attitudes.
With employee incentive programs such as the Fantastic Five, it's no wonder FlexPrint has attracted the best and the brightest to their team. This program, new for 2011, honors the top five employees who excel in providing exceptional customer service and meeting quotas – awarding them by paying either their rent/mortgage or a child’s college education for one year. FlexPrint offers a variety of other large incentives such as paid bonuses, quarterly trips, luxury cars, company parties, and an employee referral program, all meant to keep morale high and employees enthused about their jobs!
It’s one thing to run a successful business and provide a nurturing workplace, but FlexPrint is also active in the local community, providing support on many different levels. In the past year, they’ve sponsored community activities and events, and have provided financial support to community groups, donated raffle items, and provided volunteers for local events and charities. It’s not unusual to find a FlexPrint employee doing their part at local homeless shelters, kids’ camps, and as pet advocates, or by supporting international children’s aid, at-risk youth and much more.
Gaspari has no intention of allowing FlexPrint to ever lose sight of what made them successful—their customers. After all, those are the people that keep FlexPrint in business. And customers appreciate it.
That was very much in evidence at a recent customer panel conducted by FlexPrint. As one customer commented, “With other companies, once you become their customer you’re often forgotten. But FlexPrint does not do that.”
Indeed, FlexPrint employees pride themselves on getting to know their customers personally and taking care of them as best they can. “There’s only one boss - and that’s the customer,” concludes Gaspari.
