Fuji Xerox World’s Highest Speed- 900 PPM!

In October 2007, Fuji Xerox announced that the company had developed and
launched to production the “Fuji Xerox 490/980 Color Continuous Feed Printing
Systems” 600dpi high image quality, full color digital printer with the highest*
print speed of 450 color/monochrome simplex pages per minute (at A4) and 900
color/monochrome duplex pages per minute (at A4) in a 2 machine tandem

The equipment has been developed, incorporating technologies from Fujitsu
printing business that was transferred in February 2003.  Mr. Yamamoto,
president of Fuji Xerox, presented their position as a leading company, stating
“Our production printing services (PS) business has revenue size of 670 billion
yen (approx. $5.8 billion dollars) including Xerox in the US, which is number
one by far. From now on, we will keep increasing (the business) in this growing
market with 15% CAGR, planning to increase print value and print volume.” (*as

e-Document Japan – Scanners in full boom

“e-Document Japan 2007” Imaging Information Management Show was held the end
of October 2007.  This is a specialty show dedicated to document imaging
information and management.  The exhibition of high speed scanners attracted
much attention, reflecting the need to convert corporate information, including
critical financial information to electronic forms to comply with J-SOX to be
enforced in 2008. 

Canon previewed their A3 size 100 A4 pages-per-minute scanner, for reference,
for the first time in Japan.  They intend to sell the machine sometime in the
spring of next year.  The same machine was introduced by Canon USA in October
2007 as “DR-X10C” (reference selling price of $18,000).  Its speed was
introduced as 120 letter size pages/minute.  They developed the product as lots
of corporations or contract service businesses are looking for high speed and
low price scanners, from the special demand to comply with corporate internal

PFU, a leading manufacturer in Japan, exhibited internal control solutions
with a variety line up like 100 ppm A3 “fi-590C” or compact duplex scanner,
“Scan Snap.”  Also, Fuji Film exhibited the color 130 A4 pages per minute,
“SD-2000.”  Kodak exhibited the A3.
