Innovative Solutions for a Profitable Service Department
Hytec Dealer Services, Inc. (Hytec), located in Orlando, FL, is trusted by leading manufacturers and thousands of imaging dealerships to provide high-quality circuit board repair, service products, and innovative solutions. Since 1981, Hytec’s mission has been to provide component-level support and solutions to help imaging dealers save time and money, and remain competitive. In today’s economic environment, it is more important than ever to maximize service profitability. The Hytec name has always been synonymous with quality, reliability, and savings.
Unmatched Quality & Customer Support
Thousands of boards repaired by Hytec are installed in imaging equipment throughout North America every month. “Our reputation and credibility is on the line with each installation,” says Don Meis, Hytec’s Service Director. Field engineers and technicians are accountable for first-call effectiveness; a repaired board from Hytec must not only provide significant savings, but also must function properly upon installation. Meis adds, “Hytec was built upon the quality of our repairs; all repaired boards are functionally live tested in an actual machine, and must pass stringent internal quality standards before leaving our facility. This allows Hytec to stand behind all repaired boards with a full one-year warranty.”
First Call Effectiveness
If upon installation, a repaired board appears not to be functioning properly, Meis strongly encourages field engineers to call Hytec’s toll-free technical assistance line directly from a client’s location to speak with one of Hytec’s component-level technicians familiar with the equipment. “With today’s complex digital equipment, often times a symptom may point to a defective board when in fact the problem may be elsewhere in the machine; a loose connector, corrupt firmware, or even an incorrect version of system software. A simple call to Hytec can help prevent misdiagnosis and repeated service calls, and help improve your first-call effectiveness,” concludes Meis.
The repair operation at Hytec started as a small department within Florida’s largest imaging dealership. Hytec Dealer Services, Inc. became an independent company in 1985, expanding to meet the imaging industry’s needs. “In Hytec’s early years, we were just a simple repair operation providing high quality repair and return services to our customers,” stated Jennifer Amatucci, Hytec’s Business Development Director. “Since that time Hytec transformed the marketplace by being the first company to add advance exchange and board bank service types to provide inventory management and logistics support to our customers.
In addition to helping dealers reduce parts costs, these innovative service types have allowed imaging dealers to further reduce inventory, carrying, and transportation costs,” adds Amatucci. A dealer can place an order until 7:00 pm EST, and expect to receive it the next business day. Hytec can even drop shipthe order directly to a remote client’s location. Today, Hytec actively manages tens of thousands of circuit boards at its Orlando location, and Canadian distribution centers in Brampton, ON and Calgary, AB.
Hytec Drive Secure™
In June 2010, Hytec announced its new Hytec Drive Secure™ program, which provides turn-key solutions for certified hard disk drive sanitization, and complete destruction, while minimizing potential dealership liability. Hytec Drive Secure™ solutions also include hard drive sales, and secure chain-of-custody options. Amatucci states, “These solutions are very cost effective options that reduce dealership liability, provide a value-added client service, and can also provide increased revenue streams for imaging dealerships.” Hytec is a member of the National Association of Information Destruction (NAID), whose mission is to educate business, industry, and government on the importance of destroying discarded information.
In addition to specializing in circuit board repair, Hytec repairs fusers, staplers, print controllers, and fixing assemblies. Complementary offerings include hard drive sales, and drive sanitization and destruction services. Hytec is also reestablishing a select offering of some of its original, very popular service products including technician tool kits, meters, service vacuums and filters, surge suppressor and filtration devices, and electronic testing equipment.
