Leading the Charge In Office Automation

9 Softworks – a leading developer of innovative, business-centric solutions
including the award-winning SmartSearch Content Management Suite – believes ECM
will soon become as prevalent as e-mail to the average business and believes its
future is unlimited. “From its origins as a means of simply storing and
retrieving documents,” says Stephen Young, President and CEO of Square 9
Softworks, “ECM is evolving rapidly into an essential office tool with
widespread adoption across all business applications.”

Young says fast-growing Square 9 Softworks is “leading the charge” for
broader adoption of ECM within the Office Equipment space. With decades of
experience and a track record of delivering proven ECM solutions exclusively
through the OED channel, Square 9 Softworks is perfectly positioned to realize
this goal and provide its channel partners with opportunities to sell ECM more
effectively and profitably.

“The challenge facing all businesses today is the ability to manage the
enormous volumes of business information being generated daily and making it
work to their advantage,” Young says. “Global economic pressures are forcing
businesses ‘to do more with less,’ leading them to automate their business
processes through workflow technology. Until the advent of value-driven ECM
technologies such as SmartSearch, only large organizations could afford these
technologies. The advantage of a SmartSearch ECM strategy is that it provides an
affordable ‘hub’ around which organizations can build an office automation
strategy. This empowers organizations of all sizes with the tools to achieve
higher levels of efficiency, productivity and profitability.”

Square 9 Softworks was founded as an alternative to traditional ECM solutions
developers for the Office Equipment Industry. The company’s flagship product,
SmartSearch Content Management Suite, was designed to be a solution that is easy
to install, configure and support; one that dealers could bring to market with
their existing resources and without extensive training. A feature-rich,
scalable solution suite built expressly for ECM on the .NET platform using an
open architecture design, SmartSearch delivers a means to quickly store, secure,
access and distribute valuable business content, like scanned images coming from
the MFP, but is designed to be built up & out as needed. “It’s not uncommon for
users to introduce ECM technology to replace paper documents,” Young says, “and
then begin to configure it to address many aspects of their business.”

Square 9 Softworks continues to help businesses embrace and expand their ECM
strategies with new tools for automating input & capture, data entry, and e-mail
and fax management, such as KeyFree Indexing, FormFree and PrintFree. “Adopting
ECM strategies translates into reduced labor and other business costs,” Young
notes, “frequently offsetting users’ technology investment in months.” The
company will soon roll out a new tool integrating SmartSearch with Microsoft
Office Share Point Services (MOSS), and will debut a new Web portal solution in

a natural extension of solutions they are selling already, Young believes ECM is
an ideal opportunity for OEDs to provide added value for customers who rely on
them for solutions that deliver ever-greater office efficiency. “Leading in with
an ECM strategy separates dealers from competitors who have not adopted a
solutions-based model,” Young says, “and can increase revenue in markets facing
downward price pressure. Embedding ECM into customer accounts  integrates the
dealers’ hardware into the organization’s everyday workflow and also provides
tremendous lease-end protection.”
