Xerox Helps Businesses Work Smarter

When Xerox launched the first plain-paper copier almost 50 years ago it
revolutionized the business world. Since that time, businesses have evolved at a
dramatic pace, adopting new technologies, creating new processes and setting new
strategies, all in the names of greater productivity, streamlined efficiency and
cost savings. Xerox has not only helped set such actions in motion, but has
experienced them as well. Over the years, the company has aggressively expanded
into new markets, created new businesses, acquired new capabilities and
developed technologies that have launched entire industries, all in an effort to
improve the business community’s management of information.

January 2008 marked the latest change, as Xerox revealed a new brand identity
with a decidedly contemporary look and feel. The brand represents a Xerox that
has undergone tremendous change in the last decade, not the least of which has
been the transformation to an information and communications company, a content
management provider, and a partner to customers simplifying the way documents
are managed in businesses of any size. Xerox is in the process of fully
transitioning to the new brand, and the new logo will appear on products
launched later this year. Indeed, Xerox’s rich heritage with copying is well
known, but the Xerox of today is much more. The company continually evaluates
customers’ needs to develop and introduce products, services and software that
help customers work smarter.

Opportunities for Xerox Authorized Dealers

For starters, Xerox offers its Authorized Dealers a quality line up of
products ranging from fax machines, multifunction and color printers to Segment
3-4 multifunction monochrome and color copiers.  PagePack, a cost-per-page
pricing program, allows  dealers to offer flexible/affordable monthly
service & supplies contracts based on how many pages their customers print. By
knowing the exact CPC, customers enjoy predictable bills. Printing contracts
offer dealers another tool to help strengthen their customer relationships.

The SMB market in particular is a key part of Xerox’s growth strategy and a
$44 billion worldwide market opportunity. They have spent the past few years
designing products specifically for these customers. The (dealer) Xerox SMB
portfolio includes compact monochrome and color printers for personal business
users and sophisticated work group MFPs, offering high quality and reliable
printing options for every budget.

Xerox research shows on average 45 percent of a worker’s time is spent
sifting through paper documents. For the majority of those people, the searches
are unsuccessful – simply put, they can’t find what they’re looking for. To get
a better grip on the problem, more companies are implementing new technologies
in old places, and today’s MFP is just such a place. For the past few years, the
MFP has been offering companies an easy way to move hard copy files into
electronic document management systems, which helps reduce paper consumption and
provides better management of critical business documents. Advanced MFPs
equipped with Xerox's Extensible Interface Platform (EIP)can take business
workflow to a whole new level. EIP is a technology based on Web standards,
inside many Xerox multifunction systems that allows independent software vendors
and developers to easily create applications for the device and to customize the
touch screen.  Dealers can also create personalized applications differentiating
them from competitors and positioning themselves as their customers’ strategic
partner. Using this customizable interface, companies can quickly tailor the
MFP’s feature set to meet specific business needs, offering customers a complete
solution to ease their document headaches.

Color is Key- Color printing captures attention, enhances productivity and
improves communication. Dealers that educate their customers on the ROI of color
printing stand to increase their revenue while also making the transition to
color more affordable to their customers. And thanks to a breakthrough in
Xerox’s solid ink technology, dealers can now offer customers a new level of
affordable printing. The Phaser 8860 & Phaser 8860MFP are the industry’s first
to provide high quality color prints for the same cost of identical black and
white prints. Xerox has increased the total number of color pages the new ink
sticks produce, and has priced each color ink stick at one-third the price of
black supplies. The cost of the device/ink, printing on these devices is 2x’s
less than with equivalent laser printers from other manufacturers.

Dealer Tools- Xerox is committed to helping its nationwide network of
independent dealers enhance their profitability and maintain customer
satisfaction. Authorized dealers have access to Xerox sales  training,
marketing/service programs, and can take advantage of lucrative promotions &
programs. Xerox pricing allows for attractive profit margins while dealers
maintain their independent management style.
