Alternatives to Traditional OEM Print Supplies

Tech Data Corporation announced a distribution agreement with The Turbon Group, an after-market manufacturer of consumable print supplies. Available through Tech Data's Supplies & Accessories Specialized Business Unit (SBU), Turbon Group's ink and toner cartridges typically cost 50 percent less than equivalent OEM print supplies. "Turbon Group products allow resellers to offer their customers competitively priced print supplies," said Roy Appelbaum, Tech Data's vice president of components, supplies and media product marketing. "By expanding its product offering to include Turbon Group, the Supplies & Accessories SBU helps resellers capitalize on the growing print-supplies market." Lyra Research, an image industry analyst, predicts increasing revenue during the next four years for toner, laser printer and inkjet supplies. Worldwide revenue for color toner is expected to increase from $1.7 billion last year to $4.5 billion in 2007, when color and monochrome toner revenue will combine for $21.5 billion. Lyra also forecasts that laser cartridge sales will outpace ink cartridges this year. Turbon Group's monochrome and color laser toner cartridges and printer ribbons are marketed under the company's PrintMaster brand name. Inkjet cartridges are available under Turbon Group's JetFill brand name. Turbon Group utilizes an extensive recycling program to recover and reuse a wide range of print supplies. That program allows Turbon Group to create compatible print supplies from spent ink and toner cartridges that would otherwise be sent to landfills.
