BERTL Announces New Owner, Gladstone Capital, and New Team Members
MANALAPAN, NJ – BERTL, a leading independent testing facility for digital imaging devices and workflow solutions, is proud to announce that it has been purchased by Gladstone Capital Corporation. This acquisition will strengthen and extend BERTL’s position as an all-inclusive source for comparative analysis, research and insight in the digital imaging industry.

Gladstone Capital is a subsidiary of the Gladstone Companies who are leaders in private equity, debt and real estate. BERTL has also been investing in its technical knowledge base by adding some of the most respected individuals in the industry to its team. Following are some of the writers and analyst to recently join BERTL.
Terry has over 30 years experience directing the testing office-imaging equipment, and in his new position as Director of Research and Analysis, he will oversee BERTL’s extensive independent testing operations. As a former chairman and member since 1989 of the American Society for the Testing of Materials (ASTM) F05 Committee on Business Imaging Production he has written numerous, published ASTM test methods. ASTM is one of the world’s largest voluntary standards organizations, and is a trusted source for technical standards, as well as materials, products and services. In developing and managing testing programs, Terry stresses the importance of using good lab practices and standard laboratory procedures, such as those published by ASTM.
M. David Stone
David is an award-winning writer and consultant with over 25 years of experience analyzing and writing about computer hardware and software for publication and for corporate clients. He has also developed testing scripts for printers and scanners for consulting firms and for PC Magazine's PC Labs, where he is currently Lead Analyst for Printers, Scanners, and Projectors. David has been a judge for the Hewlett-Packard HP Invent Awards and is author of The Underground Guide to Color Printers (Addison-Wesley).
Scott has been covering the office equipment and office products industries since 1986. He is currently editorial director and managing editor of OfficeSolutions, OfficeDealer, and Practice Manager magazines. He’s also editor of PC Solutions, a consumer computer magazine published twice a year by Harris Publications. Scott is also a frequent contributor to ENX magazine, Repro Report magazine, Intele-Card News, and Mercer Business magazine, and has written for various office equipment manufacturers and market research organizations, focusing primarily on imaging equipment and dealer issues. In 2007, he became a regular contributor to BERTL’s iTchat online newsletter.
Ira’s experience in digital imaging goes back to the mid 1970’s when he trained customers and engineers on the installation and use of the world’s first 4/color scanner. Over the years Ira has been extensively involved in a wide array of positions in digital workflow/imaging from R&D to electronic prepress. He is well respected and recognized in the industry for his articles, columns and speaking engagements.
Henrik has been an independent consultant and professional with experience in the large format scanner industry since early 1988. His expertise includes experience in all aspects of the large-format digital capture market, wide-format printer & MFP market and wide format market analysis, strategies & trends. Henrik holds a master degree in Engineering and an executive Master degree of Business Administration.
