Callisto Local Print Analyzer

Available in the Americas through distributor Provaila Software, Business I.T. Systems' Callisto Local Print Analyzer has been introduced as an add-on product to the Callisto Print Device Analyzer, and allows network administrators to monitor usage of locally attached printers.

The Callisto Local Print Analyzer has been designed to record print jobs printed from PC’s to local printers. This information can be used to establish what printers are being used, what documents are being printed to them, and how frequently they are being printed to. This information is particularly useful when trying to develop a print strategy based on local and network printers and multifunctional devices, allowing administrators to deploy the most appropriate device based on actual requirements, rather than user’s wishes.

A key feature of the Callisto Local Print Analyzer is ease of deployment, as it does not require installation on each PC being monitored, being able to run from a network share using Group Policy or Login Scripts.

The Callisto Local Print Analyzer is used in conjunction with the Callisto Print Device Analyzer, and is available as an upgrade to this at a cost of $700 (USD). The Callisto Print Device Analyzer is used to activate the Callisto Local Print Analyzer, and to collect and report the results. It will also attempt to report on the number of pages and the number of copies. The accuracy of this information depends on a number of variables, including printer driver, Page Description Language, and Windows options, such as Advanced Printer Features and Spool File Pooling. If the Callisto Local Print Analyzer is not activated then it will run in Demonstration Mode, reporting the first two print jobs sent by each PC.
