Canon Introduces New imagePROGRAF Printers, DR Scanners, imageWARE Software, and Legal Application
At AIIM/On Demand, Canon will be introducing a number of new imagePROGRAF large-format printers and DR Scanner systems, as well as several new imageWARE software offerings, Genuine Canon Print Media and a new Canon Multifunction Embedded Application Platform (MEAP) solution.
“Canon’s legacy of innovation in imaging technologies has uniquely positioned us to support the entire Document Life Cycle – allowing us to become a true imaging solutions company,” said Tod Pike, senior vice president, Imaging Systems Group, Canon U.S.A. “Through the integration of our imaging hardware and software with networking and corporate IT systems, Canon now implements seamless digital workflow systems to streamline document management and maximize customer value and return on investment.”
New products being introduced include:
- imagePROGRAF W6400 and W8400
At AIIM/On Demand, Canon is formally introducing a breakthrough in large format print engines combined with a powerful suite of diverse software – the imagePROGRAF W8400 (44”) and W6400 (24”) – to offer printing professionals advanced functionality, performance and productivity solutions for creating, processing, and printing large format output. These printers include Canon’s proprietary print head technology, which enables high-speed printing at 2400 x 1200 dpi with precise four picoliter ink droplets for high image resolution, clarity and detail. Canon’s six-color pigment ink set now offers interchangeable black inks to produce a broad and realistic color gamut. Canon has also broadened its large format media portfolio – including a Glossy Adhesive Film as well as two medias for the Fine Arts market, Canon Fine Arts Photorag (188gsm) by Hahnemule and Canon Enhanced Velvet (255 gsm) by Someset – for a more diverse range of applications including posters, banners, backlit displays, photographs, and fine art reproductions.
Both of the new imagePROGRAF printers come with a suite of software, including: PosterArtist, a template based program to design and customize poster signs and banners; Digital Photo Print Pro, a photo-printing tool that allows the editing, manipulation and management of digital images and large graphic files to efficiently interface with PhotoPrint® Select; as well an Adobe® Postscript® 3™ software RIP. The combination of Canon’s new imagePROGRAF large format printer with included software packages delivers end-users a truly effective, efficient and flexible large format printing solution.
- DR Scanners – DR-2050C & DR-7580
Canon will also preview the DR-2050C, a sleek, compact digital document scanner that scans letter-size documents in black-and-white or grayscale at speeds of up to 20 pages-per-minute (ppm) simplex / 40 images-per-minute (ipm) duplex at 200 dpi and 24-bit color, as well as up to 10 ppm (simplex) / 20 ipm (duplex) at 150 dpi. Despite its compact size, the DR-2050C ships with a wide array of features and functions that make it ideal for workgroups and distributed scanning applications, and includes the same superior document handling, image quality and color capability synonymous with the DR-Series scanner line.
In addition, Canon will launch the new DR-7580 production scanner, designed to offer high-performance image capture at an affordable price for low-to mid-volume environments. The new DR-7580 scanner incorporates Canon’s state-of-the-art scanning engine developed for the award winning DR-9080C, and delivers outstanding image quality with optimized throughput and ease of use. Based on Canon’s advanced image processing technology, the DR-7580 achieves up to 75 pages-per-minute in black-and-white or grayscale at 200 dpi.
- Ribstone Solution’s MEAP Scan-to-Print Bates Stamping Solution
Also in Canon’s booth, Ribstone will show its MEAP Scan-To-Print application, a version of its popular software solution that can run directly on MEAP-enabled imageRUNNER devices. The MEAP Scan-To-Print application is an easy-to-use, kiosk-based application for the simultaneous creation of paginated (Bates Numbered) photocopies and electronic files for corporate legal departments and law firms. Utilizing the Scan-To-Print solution, operators are able to scan, print, Bates Number and create data files with just one pass of an original document from an imageRUNNER device. Ribstone’s Image Printer, Capture System and Scan Express applications are the other products scheduled to utilize MEAP, under a previous agreement, and will be available later this year.
Ribstone’s MEAP Scan-to-Print rich feature set for text placement options, multiple lines of text, pull down menu for commonly used text and multiple fonts/sizes/effects will allow users to customize the Bates numbering output to meet the particular archiving and labeling requirements of the legal environment. Additionally, RSM will have the easiest interface for inserting pages in the middle of a scan group by supporting alpha & numeric suffix sequencing. Ribstone’s MEAP Scan-to-Print is currently positioned to service law firms, facility management companies and out-of-house service bureaus of all sizes – providing legal professionals with a simple and intuitive Bates numbering solution. The solution serves as a practical application for segment four through segment six digital copier-based MFP devices, and are ideal for placement on convenience copiers or in-house copy center machines.
