Canon Recalls Fax Machines

Washington D.C., A U.S. government watchdog group recently announced that printer giant Canon USA Inc. (7751.T) was recalling about 60,000 combination facsimile and copier machines because they posed a fire risk. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Canon USA had received five reports of the “Faxphones” catching fire and causing damage to the machines, which have the model number B640. No injuries were reported. The units being recalled, which were sold from October 1999 through May 2001, have serial numbers UKK52923 to UKK 55442, UKK60513 to UKK99999 and YKK02001 to YKK20000.
