Canon U.S.A. And eCopy, Inc. Announce New Distribution Agreement

Canon U.S.A., Inc., and eCopy, Inc. have announced a new distribution agreement with Canon's Image Filing Systems Division. Under the terms of the agreement, Canon authorized Image Filing Systems (IFS) dealers will now be able to purchase eCopy ShareScan and ScanStation products directly from Canon. With the eCopy ScanStation and ShareScan software, Canon scanners become a shared network resource with an easy-to-use interface so any user can scan and then e-mail, fax, print or archive documents at the scanner without special training.

The eCopy Suite of products, coupled with the high-speed scanning capabilities of a Canon document or microfilm scanner, enable any user in an organization to transform paper documents into information that is easily integrated into all commonly used business applications. Using the eCopy Suite of products, companies can provide shared access to high-speed scanners that connect to the company's e-mail and other networked enterprise applications for low-cost, easy, instantaneous distribution and management of electronic copies of paper documents.

The Canon MS and DR line of scanners includes the MS-400; MS-500; MS-800; DR-2080C; DR-3060; DR-3080C; DR-4580U, DR-5020; DR-5080C and the DR-5060F. The entire suite of eCopy products will now be included in the Canon price list for full-line IFS dealers. The following will be included:

eCopy ScanStation: The eCopy ScanStation is a small-format touch screen that connects easily to most document scanners. The ScanStation enables a document or microfilm scanner as a shared network device, empowering users to convert their documents into electronic format and allowing them to distribute "eCopies" utilizing their existing network infrastructure.

eCopy ShareScan: eCopy ShareScan drives the eCopy ScanStation and serves eCopies to the network. ShareScan integrates seamlessly with Windows NT and Novell NetWare, enabling administrators to manage user lists in the online address book and create Inboxes for multiple eCopy stations from an administrative workstation anywhere on the network.

eCopy Desktop: eCopy Deskstop provides a powerful set of document workflow tools that allow individual users to treat paper or microfilm just like electronic files. For easy distribution of eCopies, the Desktop software uses the system's native e-mail application to create e-mails with attached eCopies. Users simply employ the familiar e-mail interface to select a recipient, add a subject line and cover note, and send the eCopy on its way.

A 20-user license of Desktop Software is included with every purchase of an eCopy ScanStation or ShareScan. Additionally, IFS dealers are also able to purchase eCopy Desktop software separately.
