DDMS Partners with S.P. Richards to Improve Web Content, Purchasing for Independent Dealers
Fort Worth, TX – DDMS, a leading provider of industry-specific information business technology for the office products, office machine, and office furniture industries, and its parent company, eCommerce Industries, Inc. (ECI²), will release new software features to enhance online sales and streamline purchasing for office products dealers who purchase from wholesaler S.P. Richards. The new features are part of the ongoing joint marketing agreement between DDMS and S.P. Richards to deliver additional competitive tools to the independent dealer community.
Dealers utilizing ECI²’s new ecInteractive™ Web storefront will be able to take advantage of S.P. Richards’ new Enhanced E-Content. The result of an intense development effort by the wholesaler, the new e-content significantly improves the purchasing experience for online customers with quicker and more intuitive product searches, product-specific images, cross sell and up sell suggestions and improved categorization.
“It is almost impossible to overstate the importance to the independent dealer community,” said ECI² COO Ron Books. “To compete with the superstores, dealers have to offer a comparable online experience, and fast, intuitive searches are critical. After all, customers can’t buy products if they can’t find them, and they won’t buy them from our dealers if they can’t find them easily.
“It doesn’t matter how sophisticated the e-commerce engine is and how much programming you do to optimize searches,” Books continued, “if the content isn’t solid, you won’t be able to deliver the experience today’s customers demand. S.P. Richards is the first major wholesaler to address this problem and they are working with us to deliver a solution to our mutual customers.”
E-content is only one of the benefits the two companies will be delivering to dealers in the near future. DDMS and its parent company will also be rolling out enhancements to its Ensite Pro™ business system software and the ECI² Private Supply Network (PSN) to streamline purchasing with S.P. Richards. These enhancements include the ability to download electronic credit memos, freight charges, and advance shipping notices (ASN) from S.P. Richards via the Internet. The documents are routed through the PSN and automatically processed by the dealer’s Ensite Pro system, reducing dealer labor requirements. Other benefits include improved order tracking, faster posting of charges and credits to AP, automatic updating of delivery manifests, and accurate quantity counts on pick tickets and invoices.

The purchasing enhancements will be included in the newly released Ensite Pro version 8.12 and are available to all current DDMS customers. Enhancements leveraging S.P. Richards’ Enhanced E-Content will be incorporated into the next several releases of ecInteractive, beginning with version 7.1, scheduled for release next month. There are no additional costs to DDMS customers to take advantage of these enhancements.
