Deadlines Approaching for 2008 BTA Awards Programs

Each year, the Business Technology Association provides a comprehensive look at the performance of office technology vendor/hardware manufacturers, based on the balloting of independent dealers. The results determine the winners for the association's annual Channel's Choice awards program. They are also used to produce a comprehensive report, made available to BTA members.

Recently, BTA mailed the 2008 Channel's Choice ballot to more than 3,000 office technology dealers. In addition, ballots may be cast online at www.bta.org by clicking here or on the Channel's Choice logo appearing on the home page. Completed ballots are due to BTA by Dec. 14, 2007.

The aggregated results of this confidential ballot will identify the vendors that score the highest in the three sub-categories: Digital Product Line, Distribution and Corporate Support. In early 2008, awards will be presented to the winners in these three categories. In addition, awards will be presented to the vendors receiving the highest scores for overall performance as a primary and secondary product line.

Those dealers who receive a ballot in the mail may fax them to BTA at (816) 941-4838 or return them in the postage paid envelope that is provided. All participating dealers can receive a copy of the 2008 Channel's Choice Report by providing their business card with the mailed ballot or by completing the optional contact portion of the online ballot. The report is to be compiled for BTA by Industry Analysts Inc.

In addition, each year BTA presents Dealership of the Year awards to three dealerships that have distinguished themselves within the office technology industry in various performance categories. BTA Dealer of the Year awards are presented in three revenue categories.

The winners are selected based on the evaluation of comprehensive candidate profiles, provided through a BTA Dealer of the Year questionnaire. The candidates are evaluated in four key performance categories: finance, including average sales per employee, gross margin, inventory turnover and average collection period; operations, including effectiveness in reducing employee turnover, customer-focused programs, business plan goals and objectives and 2007 business growth pattern; vision, including marketing strategies related to selling future technologies and adherence to a formal vision statement; and involvement, including industry recognition and community involvement.

The questionnaire is now available for download from the Dealer of the Year logo on the home page of the BTA Web site, www.bta.org, or by clicking here.

All returned questionnaires are evaluated by an objective third party who selects the winners. Questionnaires for the 2008 Dealer of the Year awards are due to BTA by Dec. 21, 2007.

In early 2008, BTA Dealer of the Year awards will be presented in three revenue categories — less than $3 million in annual revenues, $3-$10 million in annual revenues and more than $10 million in annual revenues.
