Des Plaines Office Equip. launches new, proprietary print management program: Image-Flex
ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL - JANUARY 4, 2008 - Des Plaines Office Equipment has unveiled its new, comprehensive print management program called Image-Flex.
DPOE President/CEO Chip Miceli said that this program acknowledges a fundamental and sweeping change in the document generation industry: the analysis of cost per page rather than per cost of equipment purchased.
“The Image-Flex program addresses key challenges that businesses face in document management,” said Miceli, noting that between 1% and 3% . “Larger corporations or public entities may purchase copiers from one vendor, facsimile products from another, printers and supplies such as cartridges from a big box store in their neighborhood, and then they may shop the market to find a service provider. In all, print management historically has required up to four different providers.”
Miceli said that the use of four different providers can result in significantly higher costs for companies who generate a significant amount of documents annually.
His Image-Flex program that offers all of these services under one roof and by one provider, and at substantial savings over the individual-vendor approach.
“Historically, document generation equipment and solutions has been driven by the price of the equipment,” said Miceli. “But there are soft and hidden costs within that and we have found that the best way to provide a true picture for companies is to create a per-page cost of generating documents, which includes everything from the cost of the equipment through to the service contract.”
Miceli referenced a study from the Stamford, CT based Gartner Group, a leader in research and analysis to the global IT industry, which predicts that organizations will spend between 1% and 3% of their annual revenue on document output. “So much of this volume goes through laser printers, and most organizations just don’t have any controls on this cost, which can be extremely significant,” he said.
Miceli said that his company has been moving toward a one-solution program for a while and actually has one large Chicago organization as an Image-Flex client even as the program officially gets underway. He predicted that the document generation industry will head in this one-solution direction in greater numbers in the decade ahead.
The initial phase of the Image-Flex program involves having a DPOE consultant provide an in-depth analysis and business plan for the company. The analysis evaluates present equipment, cost per page, and provides a series of recommendations for cost savings. The in-depth assessment comes at no cost to the company.
Advantages and benefits of the Image-Flex include:
