Des Plaines Office Equipment to open Chicago's West Wacker Drive showroom

ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL, (MAY 21, 2008) - Des Plaines Office Equipment (DPOE), the Chicago area’s leading provider of office equipment solutions since 1955, today announced that they will open a new, downtown branch/showroom at 211 West Wacker Drive, Chicago, effective July 1.

Chip Miceli, President/CEO of DPOE, said that his firm purchased the downtown space, which offers 4000 square feet of first floor showroom, to replace their current leased location at 500 North Wells and to accommodate growing client needs in the downtown area. DPOE will continue to operate from its corporate headquarters at 1020 Bonaventure Drive, Elk Grove Village, and will also continue to operate its other branch location in Loves Park (Rockford).

The new space comes on the heels of the company’s recent acquisition of Synergistic Office Solutions, a suburban Chicago document management/office products firm. In 2007, the 53-year old firm acquired another Chicago business, DVT (Document Vision Technologies).

Miceli said that the company’s continued growth prompted them to make the acquisition. “This is a good strategic move for us,” said Miceli, who said that his firm’s marketshare in Chicago has increased dramatically through an expanded sales force and their recent acquisitions. “Part of our mission is to be as accessible to clients and prospects as we can be, and we believe that this location will nicely complement our Loves Park and Elk Grove Village showrooms.”

DPOE recently was also named an SVIP Elite Dealer by Sharp, one of its business product partners; the firm has also won the Hyakuman Kai award for outstanding sales, every year since 1988. DPOE was also named an Elite Dealer by the industry publication Office Dealer.

Miceli, whose firm posted in excess of $12 million in sales last year, said that they are on track to increase by at least 20% for 2008, and that the growing firm may look at additional locations over the next year or two. “Our business began 52 years ago selling Underwood typewriters and Olivetti calculators. We’ve come a long way; our challenge in 2008 and beyond is to stay ahead of the technology that is driving our industry and do what we need to do in order to meet the needs of a growing client base.”
