Digital Gateway Enables Automated Meter Readings With Kyocera Mita

AMERICAN FORK, UT and FAIRFIELD, NJ—Digital Gateway, makers of e-automate business management software, and Kyocera Mita, a leader in document imaging solutions, have announced the release of a Web-based interface that automates the process of collecting and tracking meter readings for the Kyocera Mita line of networked printers and copiers.

At user-designated times, the interface automatically receives e-mail messages containing meter information from Kyocera Mita machines. The e-mail is then converted to XML, a Web based data communications format considered to be the standard for exchanging information between disparate technologies. Once converted to XML, the meter reading is collected by the e-automate business management system where the information is used in fundamental business processes such as service calls and invoicing.

The automatic meter readings are made possible through KM-Net@Service Gateway, the Kyocera Mita proprietary system that allows networked printers and copiers to communicate with dealer systems.
