Documentum and EMC Deliver Content Archiving and Retrieval Solution for Compliance

Documentum, a provider of enterprise content management and a division of EMC Corporation, announced the availability of the EMC Content Archiving and Retrieval Solution (CARS) with Documentum, a comprehensive offering that helps customers meet evolving requirements of internally and externally mandated compliance initiatives. CARS with Documentum enables global organizations to manage and store large volumes of content.

Using CARS with Documentum organizations can capture, manage, store, archive and ultimately dispose of all types of content, such as clinical trial information, loan applications, insurance claims, x-rays, purchase orders and hardcopy, document-based business records, while making it readily available, secure and re-usable.

An EMC Proven Solution, CARS with Documentum integrates the Documentum Enterprise Content Management (ECM) platform with EMC networked storage platforms and services to address various storage requirements at different stages of the information lifecycle. With this solution, customers can ensure that only highly valued content that must be immediately accessible or frequently accessed is stored on high-performance storage, while archived content with limited and infrequent user access is moved to EMC Centera content addressed storage (CAS) for long-term retention.

McDATA Corporation, a provider of multi-capable storage networking solutions, recently deployed a solution that leverages the Documentum platform and EMC networked storage to help a company comply with the US Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002.

"McDATA is able to standardize all financial controls documentation in the Documentum repository, which also manages our audit trails and records retention rules in addition to securely storing content across our extensive EMC SAN environment. With Documentum and EMC, we expect this combined solution to become the basis for other compliance initiatives across the company," said Mike Moreno, internal auditor for McDATA.

Global organizations across all industries continue to face the challenges of achieving compliance with government regulations, corporate governance and internal requirements, while managing content across the enterprise. Designed for optimal flexibility and high scalability of compliant content, the EMC Proven Content Archiving and Retrieval Solution with Documentum includes:

The Documentum ECM platform -- the industry's most scalable, open content repository that enables organizations to store all content types; Documentum Trusted Content Services, which provides additional security by encrypting archived content; Documentum Records Manager, for content to be treated as records with complete retention management capabilities and Documentum Compliance Manager, an easy-to-use, Web-based application that enables companies to securely create, store, share, revise, approve and distribute information within an automated and audited environment.

High-volume scanning and imaging capture software from Documentum partner, Captiva Software, and image scanning hardware from Fujitsu-Siemens.
