DocuWare Group Grows 29% Worldwide
Germering, Germany (September 9, 2008) – Now in its 20th year of operation, DocuWare continues to register strong growth numbers: in the first six months of 2008, the DocuWare Group witnessed the number of newly installed document management solutions grow by 29 percent.
In the first half of 2008, DocuWare was able to add to last year’s success – all business units worldwide contributed to the positive development. Worldwide, 483 new companies opted for DocuWare (109 more companies than in the same period last year). This represents a 29 percent jump in new installations.
Staying True to Original Vision
On October 27, 1988, DOCUNET AG – which eventually became DocuWare AG – was founded with the goal of finding solutions to handle large volumes of documents more efficiently. At that time, the documents were mostly paper-based and stored in file cabinets and binders. They started with a DACS Board (DACS = Document Archiving and Communication System) that acted as a scanner driver for data compression. But both of the original founders, Jürgen Biffar and Thomas Schneck, (who remain as today’s presidents, respectively responsible for Product & Finance and Sales & Marketing) quickly realized that the company’s long-term perspectives were in software. In 1990 they launched DACS Office, the first version of their DocuWare document management system. Today they are on Version 5, a powerful software solution equipped with the benefits of leading edge technology. Since the second quarter of 2008, the DocuWare Web Client has become a standard component of every DocuWare system. It lets users take full advantage of the Internet, without the need for installing software on a local PC.
Geared for Growth
From the beginning, DocuWare remained true to its original sales approach: around the world, a network of Authorized DocuWare Partners provide integrated document solutions locally. Several of them have been part of the network for 18 years. DocuWare president, Jürgen Biffar: “We are focused on the mid-sized market, where it’s only possible to continue growing with the help of strong regional sales partners. DocuWare isn’t sold through savvy product advertising. It’s done by finding customer-specific solutions on site that bring real-life benefits. With over 400 partners worldwide, we are certainly prepared to keep on growing.”
As a provider of integrated document management software solutions in the
mid-market segment, DocuWare has been particularly successful in three of the
most important strategic markets worldwide (USA, UK and German-speaking Europe).
Building on their market position, driving further international expansion, and
finding new suppliers are DocuWare’s goals for the next 20 years.
