Durst Expands – Establishes New Subsidiary in Canada & Acquires Assets of Rotoworx Systems Inc.
Montréal, Canada (May 2009) - Durst, a leading manufacturer of industrial strength digital printing equipment for the wide format graphics, photographic and ceramic tile markets has recently established a new wholly-owned subsidiary in Canada – Durst Canada Inc. – and proceeded to acquire the assets and ongoing business of Rotoworx Systems Inc. – a provider of high performance Finishing Systems for the narrow-web label industry.
Rotoworx Systems Inc. was established as an independent company in 2008 after several years of pioneering new technology related to semi-rotary die-cutting. A range of systems have been installed providing customers with unique solutions to their finishing requirements. Per Frost, Vice President for Strategic Planning at Durst and newly appointed CEO of Durst Canada Inc. said: “The acquisition of Rotoworx is a key-element in our multi-year strategy of developing new innovative digital solutions for a broad range of industrial printing markets.”
Utilizing its patented ISO-tensioning technology the Rotoworx products are the perfect solution for the converting needs in the label industry – in particular the special needs created by the growing number of digital label printing presses. A modular approach ensures that key processes such as semi-rotarydie-cutting, rotary die-cutting, flexographic varnishing/coating, lamination, booklet insertion etc. can be combined to match the exact requirements of the client.
“We are extremely excited about joining forces with the Durst organization”, commented James Koehler, co-founder of Rotoworx Systems Inc., key inventor of the ISO-tensioning system and Chief Technology Officer of Durst Canada Inc. “The Rotoworx products incorporate the latest technology available for finishing solutions and our collaboration with Durst will allow us to bring these solutions to the market on a broad scale.”
Durst Canada Inc. has established brand new facilities in Dorval, a suburb of Montréal close to Montréal-Trudeau airport, where the continued engineering and manufacturing of the Rotoworx products will take place.
