eCopy Connector Enables Users to Store Documents to Open Text’s ECM Suite

eCopy, a provider of document distribution and integration solutions, and Open Text Corporation, the world’s largest provider of enterprise content management (ECM) software, announced the immediate availability of the eCopy Connector for Open Text Corporation’s Livelink enterprise content management (ECM) suite. The new integration software enables eCopy ShareScan or ShareScan OP users to use their scanner or Canon imageRUNNER multifunction peripheral (MFP) to move paper documents effortlessly into their Livelink repositories for storage and ongoing document lifecycle management.

The Connector’s user interface provides the same look and feel as the Livelink PC user interface, so users will find it intuitive to move paper documents into the appropriate repositories while they are at the MFP. Changes to the Livelink workspace are automatically realized at the MFP, greatly reducing administrative costs associated with reconfiguration.

“This new integration software provides the means for employees to collaborate effectively and intelligently with paper as well as electronic files,” said Mike Baraiolo, vice president of global business development at Open Text. “It enables organizations to bring their paper and digital worlds together, and integrate paper into all of their existing business processes. The end result is thousands in savings and increased productivity.”

The eCopy Connector for Open Text’s Livelink enables users to apply all of Livelink’s detailed classification features for subsequent full text indexing and retrieval, or enter documents in Livelink workflows directly from the Canon imageRUNNER. User authenticated access assures that eCopy-created image files will be indexed, stored, and managed consistent with their existing content management procedures.

“Storing paper documents electronically is advantageous because it provides an audit trail for regulatory compliance requirements, such as Sarbanes-Oxley and the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act,” said David Toub, eCopy vice president of product marketing. “Since the eCopy Connector for Open Text’s Livelink uses native APIs, the software enables organizations to extend network authentication to the MFP, thereby protecting against unauthorized user access through the MFP, which is an important requirement for organizations that keep sensitive information in their Livelink repositories.”

eCopy Connectors directly link eCopy software to enterprise applications, enabling paper documents to be tightly integrated with these applications. The eCopy software, coupled with a scanner or Canon imageRUNNER, enables organizations to transform paper documents into electronic documents. Using eCopy, organizations can provide open access to scanning that connects to enterprise applications, such as document management, e-mail, and fax, for a low-cost, easy, instantaneous distribution and management of digital copies of paper documents.
