eCopy Connector Integrates with EMC Documentum Enterprise Content Management Platform
eCopy, a provider of document distribution and integration solutions, announced the integration of eCopy ShareScan OP (Open Platform) with the EMC Documentum Enterprise Content Management platform. EMC Corporation is the world leader in information storage and management. The eCopy Connector for Documentum enables organizations to extend the capabilities of the EMC Documentum platform to validate, share, and distribute information beyond electronic documents to paper-based information.
With this new integration software, EMC content management customers can use scanners or multifunction peripherals (MFP), such as Canon’s imageRUNNER, to move paper documents effortlessly into their Documentum systems. The Connector’s native integration with the Documentum platform provides users with a familiar interface at the MFP for their Documentum server. Changes to the EMC Documentum Content Server made from any client in the network are automatically realized at the MFP, greatly reducing administrative costs associated with reconfiguration. User-authenticated access ensures that eCopy-created image files will be indexed, stored, and managed consistently with existing content management procedures.
“The eCopy Connector for Documentum provides direct access to our enterprise content management system directly from the touch screen of the Canon MFP,” said Marc Burckin, Vice President of Technology Partners for EMC Software. “Users can log into the EMC Documentum Content Server directly from the MFP and scan, index, and route documents to a specific repository, improving business processes and information flow, increasing productivity, and enhancing security.”
The integration software presents a familiar interface so users will find it intuitive to move paper documents into the appropriate repositories while they are at the MFP. Network administrators can configure the integration software to require users to enter user name and password, which the Connector authenticates against Documentum’s user lists and dynamically supports user rights. eCopy ShareScan OP enables organizations to scan documents as searchable PDFs so that they can be located quickly using Documentum’s full text search capabilities.
“Our Connectors provide robust functionality and deep integration to our application partners’ enterprise systems,” said Claudine Bianchi, eCopy vice president of marketing. “The eCopy Connector for Documentum uses Documentum’s native APIs, so the MFP becomes a client of the Documentum server. In this way, our software extends authentication of the EMC Documentum platform to the MFP and protects against unauthorized user access to repositories, which is a critical requirement for organizations that keep Sarbanes-Oxley compliance information or other sensitive information in their Documentum repositories.”
eCopy Connectors directly link eCopy software to enterprise applications, enabling paper documents to be tightly integrated with these applications. The eCopy software, coupled with a scanner or Canon imageRUNNER, enables organizations to transform paper documents into electronic documents. Using eCopy, organizations can provide open access to scanning that connects to enterprise applications, such as document management, e-mail, and fax, for low-cost, easy, instantaneous distribution and management of digital copies of paper documents.
