eCopy, Inc. Honored with Product of the Year 2000 Award

Electronic paper distribution software from eCopy, Inc., in conjunction with the Canon series of imageRUNNER digital copiers recently captured the distinction of Product of the Year 2000 in the ``Scan and Capture'' category from Imaging & Document Solutions Magazine. The annual selection of technologically innovative products was announced in the January 2001 issue of the monthly magazine.

The eCopy Suite enables users to distribute and exchange scanned paper over corporate networks and the Internet. eCopy software powers the scanning function of a digital copier and corporate network, enabling users to scan and send paper documents to an email inbox, fax server, or desktop, directly from the ubiquitous office copier. At the user's desktop, the scanned file can be viewed and printed with the free eCopy Viewer, or manipulated with eCopy Desktop software, and sent via the Internet anywhere around the world.

Winning products were based on several criteria including: strength of tests, reviews, analyst and consultant feedback, case studies and end-user input. The magazine also sought products based on its readers' call for realistic solutions to time-consuming and inefficient business processes.

Editors relied heavily on input from top industry analysts such as CAP Ventures, Gartner Group and Doculabs for their product reviews. Mike Maziarka and Les Anderson, both directors at CAP Ventures, noted, ``The eCopy Suite brings speed and clarity into the field of paper document distribution. By combining the eCopy distribution software with Canon's flexible imageRUNNER digital copier series, scanning to network-based applications and emailing or sending paper via the Web becomes easy to control. eCopy gives the user confidence that they have a high quality paper document they can send or store for future use.'' eCopy, Inc.'s product line includes:

· eCopier: a small-format touch screen component that attaches to any eCopy-enabled copier or Multi-Function Peripheral (MFP). The eCopier allows a digital copier's scanning function to be shared within a departmental or enterprise network. Users can scan and distribute paper documents to their desktop, network fax, e-mail, or over the Internet, directly from a centrally located MFP equipped with an eCopier. Recipients of eCopy documents simply view and print through the eCopy Viewer which is downloadable from www.ecopy.com or eCopy's Desktop software.

· eCopy Software 2001: the software that drives the eCopier and acts as the scanner's gateway to the network. Once scanned, eCopy Software displays images on the eCopier control panel, providing users with an immediate visual preview of all scanned pages prior to sending the document to its final destination.

· eCopy Desktop 2001: eCopy-enabled desktop software that enables network users to process scanned documents including viewing, annotating, converting to editable format (OCR), and saving scanned documents to document management systems. eCopy Desktop includes many document markup and handling tools, providing the ability to combine or separate scanned documents, attach signature stamps and create ``eCopies'' directly from computer files. The software also allows recipients to send and receive eCopies directly from their desktops.
