Encore Electronics Launches Thin Client Product, the ENTC-1000
La Puente, CA (August 2008) – Encore Electronics, a leader in affordable wireless and wired Ethernet networking solutions for small businesses and home offices, has launched the ENTC-1000 Encore Thin Client, allowing users to share computing power from a single computer server. The ENTC-1000 is the latest addition to the growing line of products offered by Encore Electronics.
Encore Electronics ENTC-1000 is a desktop device that connects over a network to a single PC workstation where all processing and storage takes place. The compact system provides reduced maintenance costs, minimal application updates, as well as higher levels of security and energy efficiency.
Encore Thin Client is easy to deploy, easy to maintain, and is a cost effective solution for any multiple computer settings. Compact and environmentally friendly, the ENTC-1000 measures 5 7/8”(H) x 3 7/8” (W) x 1 1/4"(D), about the size of a pocket book, supports up to a 1024x768 screen resolution, and uses only 7.5 watts of power as compared with a traditional PC workstation which uses about 300 watts of power. Compatible with Windows 2000 server / 2003 server / XP and Linux® (XDMCP protocol), the ENTC-1000 is based on Linux, making it an affordable solution at $110USD MSRP per unit.
For any environment needing an affordable multi-PC solution, Encore Thin Client offers a personalized user-interface, allowing each user to fully customize their desktop and start-up menu as if they were using Microsoft Windows or Linux on a traditional computer. Since individual users are unable to store data locally, the ENTC-1000 is less susceptible to viruses. Centrally managed applications and storage allow the system administrator control over access and distribution of information, reducing security risks related to sensitive corporate data.
