Enhanced Support for Workstation-connected Printers Now Available
Print Tracker, a provider of meter collection software, announced that the latest version of its Print Tracker software includes enhanced support for printers that are connected directly to workstations, rather than connected to a network via a print server. The enhanced support includes gathering more serial number information, meters, and for some models, toner level and service information. The amount of data available from a workstation-connected printer depends on the connection type, printer drivers, and printer model.
Print Tracker is a non-invasive software solution for gathering meter reads,
toner levels, and service alert information from copiers and printers.
Installation generally requires little or no involvement from the onsite IT
department. The meter data passes securely through firewalls using the HTTPS
protocol, similar to how a web browser communicates with a banking website.
Print Tracker is used in banks, hospitals, and schools for both pre-sales volume
assessments as well as post-sales billing. The meter data can be stored on Print
Tracker servers or on a dealer’s database server.
Meter data gathered by Print Tracker can be automatically put into a dealer’s billing database by the Data Processor software. LMS NextGen, OMD, e-automate, Great Plains or any ODBC-compliant billing database may be updated.
