EO Johnson Office Technologies Mourns Loss of Company Founder, Emery O. Johnson
WAUSAU, WI (March 2011)– Emery (E.O.) Johnson, founder of EO Johnson Office Technologies, passed away February 2, 2011 in Wausau, WI. He was 89. Emery Johnson opened his business, the EO Johnson Company, in Wausau, WI in May 1957. The copier business was just starting and he saw an opportunity to start his own business selling, servicing, and supporting 3M copiers. He sought out 3M and became their dealer for north, central, and western Wisconsin. He grew the Wausau-based operation from a one-man business to a company of 180 employees with offices in Wausau, Eau Claire, and La Crosse, WI and Rochester, MN.
Today the company is EO Johnson Office Technologies, and his daughter, Mary Jo Johnson, is the CEO. Emery Johnson was a man of integrity who was committed to delivering the best customer service possible. “If a customer honors us with a sale, we owe it to them to give them the kind of service they deserve,” he said. He was also loved by his employees who he credited for the company’s success.
Emery had a long-standing commitment to give back to the community through time, talents, and treasures. Throughout his life he spent a significant amount of time working with various organizations in the Wausau area from sitting on boards and committees to coaching youth sports and scout leadership. He also was a local philanthropist, generously donating significant dollars to various organizations.
