Equitrac Launches Equitrac Office 3.0

In response to fast-rising expenses associated with document output, Equitrac Corporation today announced the release of Equitrac Office 3.0. According to IDC, the U.S.’s volume of printed and copied pages is continuing to rise and will top 1.7 trillion pages annually by 2007. For enterprise-level businesses, this increase could mean millions more in overhead. IT administrators are faced with an increasingly urgent need to manage these document-related expenses.  Equitrac Office 3.0 gives businesses and other organizations a software solution capable of monitoring, measuring and managing the copy, print, fax and scan-related activity across an entire global enterprise, down to the individual end user.

Equitrac Office 3.0 is a comprehensive solution that lets companies take command of one of the largest unmeasured and uncontrolled costs of doing business: document output. Equitrac Office integrates seamlessly in an organization’s existing print server architecture and gives businesses the ability to measure the true expense of document output across its total enterprise environment and manage document activities with unprecedented control. Equitrac Office 3.0 offers several new features:

Rules and Routing: An enterprise can now have real control over the massive, hidden overhead incurred as thousands of end users print and copy every day. Equitrac Office 3.0 provides flexible rules to route individual jobs to the most appropriate device or hold them for secure document release, based on size of the job, device capacity, per page cost and other document attributes. 

Print and User Security: Equitrac Office 3.0 has been improved to work in a comprehensive set of authentication and security environments. In addition to the native workstation OS authentication, such as Windows, users can now be authenticated through an external authority such as Active Directory, NDS or a generic LDAP server. By using external authentication, system administrators can eliminate the need to maintain a separate security database.

Enterprise Environment Support: The scalable architecture of Equitrac Office 3.0 is designed to support enterprise environments with such features as Server Uplink and Windows Server Clustering support, which provides aggregate enterprise reporting and fault tolerant capabilities.

Analysis Toolkit:  Equitrac Office 3.0 also offers a set of tools and reporting capabilities that allow businesses and their equipment vendors to model and predict device utilization and costs, providing them with invaluable information for planning device deployment and output management strategies.

Equitrac Office 3.0 is available in both standard and Small Business editions to meet the needs of any type of organization, from 50 workstations to 50,000, from businesses and government agencies to educational institutions and non-profits.  Small Business Edition offers all the features and functionality of Equitrac Office 3.0, but with limited scalability and without Enterprise Environment Support. Small businesses that grow beyond a single print server can upgrade easily from Small Business Edition to Equitrac Office 3.0.
