MADISON, WI – The Gordon Flesch Charitable Foundation donated $5,000 to the
Well Child Center in Elgin, Ill. on July 1. The donation will help fund the
Center’s Pediatric Dental Clinic.
Established in 1971, the Well Child Center is dedicated to meeting the dental and nutritional needs of low-income and at-risk children as well as expectant mothers through healthcare counseling, programs and education. Dental health problems are the most prevalent chronic disease of early childhood, impacting self-esteem, nutrition, language and learning. In 2007, the Center’s Pediatric Dental Clinic provided dental services for more than 2,500 children.
“Recent research reinforces the importance of good dental health for children,” said Trish Roth, executive director for the Well Child Center. “The donation from the Gordon Flesch Company will help us continue to provide necessary dental services to children in need.”
Remaining true to the company vision to “serve the communities where we work and live,” the Gordon Flesch Charitable Foundation, Inc. has donated more than $800,000 to various charities and organizations in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Wisconsin since its inception in 2002. “The creation of the Charitable Foundation formalized a spirit of generosity that has been part of the Gordon Flesch Company culture since the beginning,” said Ann Myers, president of the Gordon Flesch Charitable Foundation. “It is a reflection of the company’s awareness that we make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”
