Hewlett-Packard Files Patent Lawsuit Against 11 Ink Jet Firms
Palo Alto, CA (September 2009) - Hewlett-Packard filed a complaint against 11 different companies doing business either in the United States, in China, or in both countries, for infringement of its ink jet patents.
Named in the lawsuit are four U.S. patents: 6,959,985; 7,104,630; 6,089,687; and, 6,264,301. The complaint was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
Each of the four named patents relates to ink jet printing cartridges. More specifically, the complaint alleges that H-P patents have been or are currently being infringed by the defendants’ “unauthorized making, using, selling, or offering for sale within the United States” their ink jet cartridges.
The plaintiff further alleges that “such acts constitute willful and deliberate infringement, entitling H-P to enhanced damages and reasonable attorney fees.” In addition, the complaint demands “a jury trial on all issues triable by jury.”
