IDC Ranks Sharp Electronics as US Leader in Digital Copier Sales
Sharp Electronics Corp. is pleased to announce that it ranks number one in U.S. digital copier sales, according to a report recently released by International Data Corporation (IDC), a leading information-technology research firm. Sharp accounted for 18.7 % of all digital copiers sold in the United States in 2001. Former industry leader Xerox Corporation ranked second in the IDC report, while Canon earned third- place consideration and Ricoh placed fourth.
Sharp has been a market leader for more than 10 years and consistently ranks as one of the top three vendors in the office equipment industry. In this latest ranking, Sharp was not only the highest ranking digital manufacturer across all segments, but also dominant in several individual market segments. Sharp now has the important distinction of not only ranking first in terms of unit placement, but has also earned numerous industry accolades for product performance.
Sharp's AR-M350N won the 2002 Buyers Laboratory "Outstanding Segment 3 Multifunctional Imaging System" award and the AR-M450N won the 2002 "Outstanding Segment 4 Multifunctional Imaging System" award. Each year, Buyer's Laboratory conducts unbiased tests of a wide range of products, focusing on performance criteria including copy/print quality, durability, productivity, ease of use and more. The 2002 "Pick of the Year" awards honor the best products tested by Buyer's Laboratory from Spring 2001 through early Spring 2002.
Better Buys for Business has given the AR-M450 its Editor's Choice Award, conferred once annually on "best-in-class" products that "serve as a benchmark of high quality, exceptional performance and real value."
BERTL Digital Test Labs awarded the Sharp AR-M350 the Best "Fully Configured" Network MFP, 30-40ppm range, and pronounced the AR-M450 the Best "Fully Configured" Network MFP, 40-50ppm range. These awards are based on a comprehensive evaluation of over 200 copiers, printers, MFPs, color and high- volume devices during 2001 and early 2002.
