IKON adds EMC Documentum ApplicationXtender 5 to Integrated Portfolio
IKON Office Solutions announced that it will add the EMC Documentum ApplicationXtender 5 (AX5) content management software to its recently launched integrated portfolio of solutions for all phases of the document lifecycle: capture, workflow, output and retention. EMC Corporation is the world leader in information storage and management.
Addressing the retention requirements of today's document intensive office environments, IKON's global services organization - IKON Enterprise Services - will offer Documentum AX5 as part of its portfolio of end-to-end document management solutions. EMC's reliable content management software gives IKON customers the ability to collect and manage documents within a centralized repository - allowing greater control and access to critical information.

All types of business documents and images -- paper or electronic -- can be stored in, and easily retrieved from, a centralized repository built with Documentum AX5. Documentum AX5 also integrates with business applications and supporting systems, such as ERP, accounting, and human resources systems - feeding documents directly into critical business processes.

The scalable software, which offers a storage solution for single users and large departments alike, establishes a more effective way for users to collect, share and store documents. Collaboration between individual users and entire departments is improved by enabling the quick retrieval of relevant information and eliminating time wasted manually searching paper files or sifting through unrelated information. Support for optical character recognition (OCR) and full text indexing allows users to easily search and retrieve specific information. The combination of these capabilities with a shared repository reduces the likelihood of documents being duplicated in the system or printed unnecessarily, both of which can be a drain on resources.
