imageSource's ITEX Show: The Candy Store for Document Solutions
Las Vegas – March 20-23 -White Hot vendors. Red Hot dealers. ITEX was the coolest place to find the hottest product and education to change the business outlook of those providers that attended the show, from across the USA and Asia. Dealers looking to find higher ground to gain an edge on the economy and competition found it in large quantities at ITEX, which, as a proverbial candy store, they could feast on an abundance of sweet solutions provided. The full-course menu served up impressive technology tours, six education power tracks, One2One Meetings (that resulted in huge partnerships struck), a new Solutions Lab Exhibit, and two full-day dealer business forums. That, along with an interactive open-forum keynote address by mega industry leaders, and a festive dinner and award gala to honor providers complimented by a Fun Rat Pack Tribute, had ITEX rocking the house like a big Vegas event should. No gamble here, it was a big win for many to hit a jackpot of new business "tools.".
The 2007 theme for ITEX? You’re in control! Which is just what the shows producers handed to attendees. Staff and industry speakers, those experts that help pave the way to grow/expand your business hit the target. They sought to answer the questions to help dealers make the best “connections” business wise for themselves, as the document technology backdrop becomes more complex and fragmented. Rather than making tradeoffs and compromises, savvy dealers were encouraged to weigh choices as to just what will bring the most benefit to their businesses today.
ITEX has been called the single most focused and credible authority out there to provide the latest industry information to drive education and insight into the transitioning channels. The award winning convention’s founders, who additionally publish imageSource magazine, a leading publication for providers who manage document technology, have their hands on the pulse of the market. They understand and explore new product technology, the advances in integrated workflow and document management solutions, what the reasons are behind growing your Professional Services offering. They aim to spotlight the advancing opportunities for providers, including networked and remote, and of significance, the resources dealer need to strategically stay in business, providing the roadmap to the independent dealer to profit.
Lets take a red hot “tour”
of just what ITEX 2007 implemented:
Now in its seventh year, the show required 125,000 square ft. to house more than 250 vendors with the latest technology and workshop space for six education tracks of six individual sessions each, run by the best experts/speakers/analysts in digital document imaging today.
The thousands of attendees included VARs, Dealers, Resellers and IT and sales staff who viewed the absolute latest in new hardware and software solutions, to parts and supplies, tackling service and sales input, as well as finding new business partners amidst the multiple opportunities to be had. Oki Printing Solutions, a Partnership Sponsor of ITEX, chose the ’07 event to premiere their newest product offering, confirming the shows validity as the leading industry venue to showcase product to the nations leading dealerships.
Instead of staying home and wondering “What now?” the dealers present chose to find the best answers and strategies (to grab the gold) found in Power Hour sessions to stay ahead of the encroaching competition, dealers know to play it smart they must get the most education possible. They let ITEX Education empower them with the necessary strategies needed to succeed, helping create an actionable game plan for 2007 and beyond. It was obvious that the future of document solutions was boldly staring into the faces present at ITEX and attendees welcomed the new roadmap given to navigate it.
Radiating intelligence through mega Power Hours
ITEX offered six dedicated education tracks to specifically teach dealers how to leverage document solutions. From core issues such as generating sales leads to new opportunities in selling connectivity, developing new partnerships, and ultimately reinventing the dealer’s business model, the standing-room only speaker sessions were led by some of the industry’s best experts. Their main goal was to empower dealers with the latest knowledge needed to advance their business to profitable new levels.
Depending on whether you needed to learn how to evaluate your company’s entire document workflow in order to improve productivity, or what makes up a full portfolio offering of Professional Services, as well as learning to transition from equipment provider to solutions business partner, or being challenged on the emerging technologies that the future brings, the key answers to keep a dealers business alive and moving forward were found in the session rooms at ITEX. The bottom line was to arm dealers with the tools to carry out their business mission – that of capitalizing on what the $41 billion dollar industry has to offer.
Forward Forum Thinking
In addition to all the power packed education sessions, ITEX offered in depth learning provided in two, full-day Dealer Business Forums. Forum 1, led by a panel of four venerable industry experts, discussed Selling the Total Document System and Meeting the Changing Needs in a Parity Market which addressed topics such as increasing profitability in a rapidly changing market, selling packages of systems, learning which products to promote, and understanding where to generate profit in the ever evolving networked market. The agenda provided a powerhouse of strategies for dealers to adapt to their own businesses for success and profit in today’s marketplace.
AIIM’s full-day session was a one-of-a-kind training program to become an AIIM ECM Practitioner. The ECM Practitioner Program covered the information lifecycle and related concepts such as electronic document management, collaboration, business process management, and electronic records management. The training program answerd the question, “What is ECM?” and leads to the designation of a AIIM ECM Practitioner.
A brand new opportunity was also available at ITEX 2007 for the first time in prescheduled One2One Meetings between dealer and vendor(s). The result is instant accessibility to industry movers and shakers, leading to highly profitable partnerships.
Established as an offshoot of the successful e2e Meetings in a resort location, the tradeshow meetings helped industry providers get face-to-face with the channel’s key decision makers, leading OEMs and associated vendors not normally available in a setting conducive to networking.
Hot Spot Tech Tours
Over 100 dealers participated in taking 30-minute guided tours of the show floor to visit with a hand-selected group of elite vendors who each took a few minutes to present their technology-based products to dealers looking to grow their core business and branch out vertically into new markets. Technology Innovation Tours offered a great capsule opportunity to learn about the innovative products that are changing the industry each year, and dealers discovered how they could profit by taking their business in new directions.
The interactive open-forum "Doc Talk LIVE" keynote session, held at the Aladdin Hotel after the Convention Center exhibits closed, and preceeded by a well-attended cocktail reception given by MWA Intelligence, addressed the key issues concerning an evolving marketplace, including information on the end user’s needs for full optimization of technology and business practices, touching on specific areas of concern. Moderated by imageSource Magazine Advisory Council member Mike Stramaglio, the CEO and President of MWAi, the superstar guest panelists were two of the industry’s greatest talents and champions; CEO Tom Johnson of Global Imaging Systems and CEO/Pres. Rick Taylor of Toshiba America Business Solutions.
Dealer of the Year
This year’s 2007 Perfect Image Awards, presented by ITEX founder Marc Spring, publisher of imageSource magazine, honored those dealerships that reflect excellence within well-defined categories. This year’s winner for Dealer of the Year, and also awarded Outstanding Sales Program, is ProSource of Cincinatti. In addition, the following award recipients were: Coordinated Business Systems for Outstanding Marketing Campaign; Copy and Camera Technologies for Outstanding Community Involvement; Docutek Imaging Solutions for Most Innovative Customer Service; McShanes Inc. for Best Use of the Web; Fraser Advanced Information Systems for Best Implementation of Technology Strategies; and M.O.S. Imaging Systems for Outstanding Service Program.
ITEX 2007 was the absolute best partner in helping dealers to navigate the industry, offering them the best found “equipment” and tools to get a clearer picture of the changing document landscape, as well as profit from its emerging opportunities. With name brand OEMs, manufactures of hardware and software solutions to preview, and quality education to help dealers prosper, ITEX 2007 offered numerous opportunities to choose from. In essence, it was a virtual candy store for a dealer’s taking.
