Imaging Automation Partners With BIO-key to Integrate Biometrics Into Document Authentication Platform

Imaging Automation, a leader in document authentication and identity verification technologies, announced a joint marketing and product development partnership with BIO-key International, a leader in biometric finger identification technology tools. This partnership will provide airports, airlines, border and seaport customers the first platform capable of authenticating government issued identification documents based upon the physical characteristics of the document as well as biometric data acquired from fingerprint testing.

"To improve security it is essential to be able to first authenticate the document and also validate that the person is who they say they are," said Don Rosacker, President of BIO-key. "This partnership allows both companies to streamline the interoperability of document authentication and biometrics and provide comprehensive security functionality which can determine the identification of an individual while linking to centralized databases and international watch-lists, providing multiple security layers necessary for reliable and effective border and access control."

The BIO-key and Imaging Automation partnership will add applications to both companies' complimentary technologies to enable the capture of a fingerprint within a document such as a passport or drivers license. This creates a powerful security net that includes, physical document authentication, verification of legal document format and issuance verification testing. By deploying the iA-thenticate platform, airports and governments can implement heightened security features such as, identifying the laminate type, confirming the national security logo, verifying invisible inks and tags, and searching for and highlighting tampering. The platform also screens a document through a centralized database and the technology ties into existing reservation, manifest and national watch list systems to integrate all security measures effectively and efficiently, maintaining the utmost levels of safety.
