Imagistics International Introduces New Digital DL650 Combination Copier/Printer/Scanner

Imagistics International Inc., formerly Pitney Bowes Office Systems, today introduced the DL650 - a 65-ppm digital copier/printer that is specifically designed for document-intensive environments in the general office or the central reprographics department.

When the DL650 is connected to the network, it functions as a high-speed network printer, yet provides all of the advanced finishing and feature functionality typically found on an advanced copier. Powered by EFI Fiery X3TM technology, the DL650 fits seamlessly into standard network printer environments and supports both Adobe PostScript® 3 and PCL6 for compatibility with today's most popular applications. Multi-position stapling, 3-hole punch and a wide range of folded booklets are simply a mouse-click or two away at the user's desktop.

The DL650 adds the flexibility to distribute documents electronically and facilitates the sharing of critical information. When users need to convert printed documents into electronic files, the DL650 with Fiery X3TM technology implements sharing information by email, storing documents on a network server or on the Fiery X3TM hard disk drive, or by acting as a gateway into the document management system. The DL650 scanning application is TWAIN compliant and supports saving the scanned documents in a TIFF or Adobe® PDF file format.

Improved Quality, Productivity and Reliability

The DL650's powerful suite of technologies provides new features that greatly improve quality, user productivity and unit reliability.

First, the DL650's robust digital copier engine is capable of producing 600 x 600 dots-per-inch and 256 gray scale resolution for printing text, graphics and photographic images, with consistent, high quality reproduction.

Second, when the DL650 is connected to the network, it functions as a high-speed printer, with all the finishing functionality found on advanced digital copiers. Instead of printing an original and walking it to the copier to make multiple sets, users can send the entire job to the DL650 via their network, thereby shortening the amount of time spent producing a document. And, with a 7,250-sheet paper capacity, users do not have to worry about running out of paper in the middle of a job. (Note: The DL650 can be refilled while the unit is running.)

Third, the DL650 has a dynamic image server function which allows frequently repeated copy jobs like training manuals, press releases, and marketing materials to be scanned and stored on the 10GB hard disk drive. When additional copies are required, it is simply recalled from the DL650's digital library storage, providing real time savings at the departmental level or in central reprographics departments. The DL650 is designed to handle high-volume copy/printing workloads up to 300,000 - 400,000 impressions per month. Durability features include box frame construction for maximum rigidity and vibration reduction; internal heat-dissipating fans to extend parts life and improve image quality; and bearing-mounted paper drawers that ensure smooth operation.

Production Features In Your Workgroup

Typically the domain of expensive high-end units found in quick-copy and printing companies, the DL650 offers desktop users the capabilities of a large reprographics department, right in their own workgroup. These include 8-position stapling of documents up to 50 sheets plus 3-hole punch and an output tray with a 3,000 sheet capacity to handle long runs. The unit also provides the option to create magazine-style booklets with saddle-stitch finishing and folding that can be fed through the feeder or printed directly from a desktop. Either way, the unit will automatically create the “signature” pages in correct order, saddle stitch the document and fold it in half.

With the advanced features available on the DL650, companies can produce folded and stapled booklets in-house, reducing trips to the local printer. As a result, users gain more control over their documents, achieve faster turnaround time and do not have to worry about sensitive documents leaving their organization or workgroup.

Because of the high volume capability of the DL650, companies can produce professional looking documents in-house and subsequently lessen the costs associated with outsourcing. The DL650 can also be used in a production-intensive environment when operated in tandem, providing a powerful 130-ppm solution with 800,000-page duty cycle for intensive in-house publishing applications. This redundant configuration ensures longer operating uptime if one unit needs maintenance or service, guarding against a major weakness of having only one high-speed 110 - 135 ppm unit.
