Industry Support Grows for New Printing and Document Imaging Certification from CompTIA
Oakbrook Terrace, IL - The Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA), a leading provider of vendor-neutral certifications for technology professionals, announced today that five more companies with leadership positions in the printing and document imaging industry are supporting the development of a professional certification for printing and document imaging technicians.
Organizations supporting the development of CompTIA Printing and Document
Imaging+ (CompTIA PDI+™) certification include:
a.. Brother International Corporation, a provider of various printing solutions using ink jet , thermal, laser or color laser technologies, including printers, Multifunction devices, and Ptouch Electronic Labeling Solutions;
b.. Data Vault, Inc., an application service provider with document imaging and management expertise that has been providing training and consulting solutions to business and industry since 1993;
c.. HP, which has a portfolio that spans printing, personal computing, software, services and IT infrastructure;
d.. Parts Now!, a distributor of laser printer parts in North America, which also offers up-to-the-minute training for industry executives around the globe; and
e.. Ricoh Americas Corporation, a diversified office automation equipment and electronics provider.
“A certification’s industry acceptance and usage depends on the commitment and support of leading organizations,” said John Venator, president and chief executive officer, CompTIA. “The participation of these market and technology leaders signals their strong commitment to a vendor-neutral credential that validates the technical and business skills of professionals working with printing and document imaging devices.”
CompTIA had announced previously that Canon U.S.A., Inc., Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe GmbH, Lexmark International, Pitney Bowes, Sharp Electronics of Canada, Specialized Solutions, and Xerox Corporation are supporting development of the certification by contributing subject matter expertise and financial resources.
CompTIA PDI+ will address technical skills related to printers (including inkjet, laser, dot matrix, thermal, and solid Ink), multi-functional products, scanners, faxes, copiers, networking, connectivity, troubleshooting, and color theory. Target candidates for CompTIA PDI+ certification are expected to be entry-level technicians with six to twelve months of experience in the installation, connectivity, maintenance and repair and support of devices in the printing and document imaging industry. This includes service technicians, support technicians and help desk staff.
CompTIA PDI+ is scheduled to be available in early 2008.
