Kyocera Supports Standard for Measuring Monochrome Toner Cartridge Yield

Kyocera Mita America announced that it will be supporting the new joint standard set by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission ISO/IEC 19752 for their monochromatic printer models. This new standard is a method for the determination of toner cartridge yield for monochromatic printers and multi-function devices that may contain printer components.

The new ISO standard for monochromatic printers clearly defines the key attributes that affect yield and provides rigorous testing methodologies to measure monochromatic toner yield. The standard also prescribes the method for declaring yield values from test results and the appropriate method of describing the yield of cartridges in documentation supplied to the consumer by the manufacturer.

By adopting this new measurement method, customers can now be assured that companies who are adhering to the ISO standard are using the most robust testing criteria available for determining monochromatic toner yield.

"ISO's voluntary standards have to be robust to make it through the rigorous processes that ensure they meet the requirements of businesses and their customers worldwide," said Roger Frost, ISO Press and Communications Manager. "Created by experts from organizations the world over, the standards represent an international consensus on state-of-the-art solutions for technological and business challenges. The designation of 'ISO International Standard' has to be merited."

"As manufacturers continue to adopt this new ISO standard, customers will have the advantage of accessing information they can count on when making purchasing decisions," said Michael Pietrunti, senior vice president, marketing and technical services for Kyocera Mita America. "We strongly support the industry-wide adoption of this and other standards and believe ISO's involvement will result in increased industry and customer benefits."
