LabCorp Selected as Finalist for AIIM 2009 Best Practices Award
State College, PA (February 2009) - Optical Image Technology (OIT) customer, Laboratory Corporation of America (LabCorp), has been chosen as a finalist for the Association for Information and Image Management’s (AIIM) Carl E. Nelson Best Practices Award. The Best Practices Award recognizes excellence in the field of enterprise content management (ECM) and showcases the returns on investment that technology solutions can attain for businesses. The award denotes a standard of excellence that winners have achieved by successfully quantifying and adapting processes that can be repeated within their organization as well as by others. Finalists and winners must demonstrate significant returns on investment resulting from their innovative use of document and process management technology.
As a result of integrating their Microsoft Office processes with OIT’s DocFinity document management and workflow software as well as with their existing data storage system, LabCorp was able to recover $6.1 million dollars in bad debts between 2004 and 2007. Forty-three talented employees were repurposed from tedious data entry/search/filing positions to analytical and service areas. Over $400,000 was also saved in paper expenditures company-wide.
Winners of the Best Practices Award will be selected by the entire professional membership of AIIM. Finalists will be introduced at the annual AIIM awards dinner on March 31 in Philadelphia at 7 p.m., at which time the winners will be announced.
