Lanier 5455 and 5470 Digital Copier/Printer Earn ``Picks of the Year''
Lanier Worldwide, Inc. announced that the Lanier 5455 and 5470 Digital Copier/Printer Systems received the Buyers Laboratory (BLI) ``Picks of the Year'' award for 2001.
BLI designated the solutions ``Outstanding Multifunctional Imaging Systems'' for Segments 4 and 5, respectively, citing the systems' exceptional reliability, multitasking, productivity and ease of use. BLI is one of the nation's leading independent office products testing organizations, and reserves its ``Picks of the Year'' award for systems that deliver the most outstanding laboratory performance.
The Lanier 5455 earned high marks from BLI for its exceptional performance during its three-month evaluation. Tested with its optional Fiery EB-70 Print Controller, the 5455 completed 262,500-impressions with efficiency for simplex and duplex copying. The system's 600 dpi copy quality earned BLI's highest rating for text, line art, halftones and solids. BLI also noted the system's easy-to-use control panel, as well as its ability to operate equally well as a walk-up device and a network printer.
The Lanier 5470 garnered similar compliments during its three-month, 300,000-impression test. It too was tested with the optional EB-70 print controller, which delivered solid network printing capabilities -- including exceptional feedback for workstation users -- according to BLI. Like the 5455, the 5470 separated itself from the competition with an intuitive control panel, excellent productivity for duplex copying, and copy quality that received the highest possible rating.
Nearly 100 multifunction systems, analog and digital copiers, fax machines and printers were eligible for the ``Picks of the Year'' distinction. BLI technicians subjected each one to extensive laboratory tests designed to compare many critical factors, such as reliability, image quality, productivity and connectivity. The testing period for this year's awards ran from the spring of 2000 through May 2001.
