Lanier Introduces New Line of Document Management Solutions Engineered for Healthcare
Lanier Worldwide, Inc. has launched a new portfolio of document management systems specifically designed to help providers, payers and other healthcare organizations reduce document costs and simplify implementation of HIPAA guidelines.
The solutions will be available immediately.
``Without question, HIPAA is one of the most complex issues in the healthcare industry, simply because it affects so many aspects of the business,'' said Dominic Pontrelli, vice president of marketing for Lanier. ``HIPAA regulations for privacy and security cover the patient records healthcare organizations print, copy, fax and email every day. Healthcare organizations must also document their HIPAA-related process improvements, and implementing these changes on an enterprise-wide scale will require fast, efficient production of training packets, reports, patient education materials and many other documents. This new line of document management solutions will help our healthcare customers overcome these challenges.''
Complete Portfolio of Copy/Print/Fax Solutions
Lanier document management solutions for healthcare include five systems, each of which is designed to create or transmit documents quickly and securely in healthcare environments:
DOCuMed(TM) for Secure Printing. These digital multifunction systems do the work of a digital copier, networked laser printer, fax machine and host printer -- all of which can be accessed through a desktop PC interface. They also enable healthcare organizations to encrypt sensitive documents before sending them over a local area network (LAN), and prevent unauthorized users from printing hardcopy files.
DOCuMed(TM) for Host Printing. Traditional host printing -- which accounts for nearly 70 percent of all pages printed in healthcare environments -- has become increasingly expensive to support and maintain. It does not offer document finishing, which must be outsourced. DOCuMed(TM) for Host Printing solutions solve all of these issues. They offer a lower cost-per-page, faster output and higher quality than host printing, plus in-line sorting, stapling, three-hole punching and booklet-making.
ColorDOC(TM). These solutions deliver fast, high-quality digital copying and printing for full-color documents, enabling healthcare organizations to bring color document production in house. This eliminates the need to outsource large print runs, and allows customers to produce color documents that contain protected health information without transporting files to a third-party print vendor.
Secure Fax. HIPAA guidelines require that patient data transmitted via fax must be encrypted. Secure Fax solutions from Lanier help healthcare organizations meet this regulation. Integrated security systems allow automatic encryption of fax transmissions, or encryption of voice communications on analog phone lines for direct-dial fax applications.
Scan to PDF. These digital copier/printers enable fast scanning of medical records, plus automatic conversion to PDF files that can be routed to a desktop PC, coded, encrypted and distributed via email.
``With these systems -- and with Lanier as their document management partner -- healthcare organizations will be able to facilitate HIPAA compliance, increase efficiency, reduce operating costs, minimize risk and gain competitive advantage,'' Pontrelli said.
