Lexmark Withdraws From Selling Wheelwriters

Lexmark International, Inc. has announced its withdrawal from the marketing of the IBM Wheelwriter 1500 and 3500 typewriters - all remaining typewriters models - and associated features.

The typewriter models will be withdrawn Dec. 31, 2002, or when stock is depleted. Lexmark expects the supply to last through Dec. 31, given its current sales rates.

In its announcement to dealers, the company provides terms on the product withdrawal as it relates to various distribution programs, such as the 2002 Public Sector Program and GSA Program. "Dealers that have relationships with long-term customers should manage those relationships appropriately given terms of this withdrawal announcement," said a Lexmark representative.
