Mkg’s Reengineered Plant A Platform For Growth

A total redesign and retooling of its plant has met MKG Cartridge Systems’ performance expectations, and created an excellent platform for further improvement, the company has reported. “We overhauled the plant from the ground up to streamline material flows, provide more efficient materials and product storage, and enhance the work environment for employees,” said MKG’s Director of Manufacturing Mehdi Oskui. “We have already experienced greater efficiency and an expected 15 percent increase in capacity. We have also created a manufacturing platform that will enable us to introduce additional process improvements going forward.” An ISO 9001 registered company, MKG completed construction in off hours, enabling the company to maintain production without interruption. Besides reconstructing its assembly cells for more efficient material flow, MKG refined individual processes, built new workstations and installed advanced manufacturing tools to incorporate what the company has learned over more than a decade as a high volume cartridge producer. “We also elevated the importance of teamwork on our production lines,” Oskui said. “Our goal is to empower employee teams to take greater responsibility for production and quality.” With expected gains already achieved, MKG plans to further increase capacity and efficiency by introducing additional automation. “We now have a solid manufacturing platform built around what we feel are best practices for our industry,” Oskui said.
