Muratec Introduces Three New Workgroup Multifunction Devices


Plano, TX (September 17, 2009) - Muratec America, Inc., manufacturer of multifunction office equipment and business productivity solutions, announces today the availability of three new workgroup multifunction devices, the F-315, MFX-1950 and MFX-3550 Professional Edition.

The F-315 is a fax-centric multifunctional device that replaces the F-305 in the Muratec product line-up. The F-315 features a high-speed 33.6 Kbps fax modem, JBIG compression and 3 second-per-page transmission time to deliver business critical faxes quickly. Additional fax features include an 80-sheet automatic document feeder, 40 one-touch dialing keys, 160 speed dial codes, 230 location broadcasting, 32 dialing groups, secure reception and 72 hour document memory back-up. For high-volume fax applications a 2nd 33.6 Kbps fax modem can be added to enable simultaneous fax transmission and reception. The F-315 can also support the transmission of fax documents through a network fax server using the optional e-mail gateway solution.

“Despite the emergence of scan to e-mail, online collaboration tools and other electronic communication solutions, there is still a demand for traditional fax solutions in the market,” says Jim D’Emidio, president, Muratec America, Inc. “Several manufacturers have chosen not to put resources into fax development, however we continue to see new fax opportunities everyday. The F-315 meets the needs to those users who require a dedicated fax solution by offering exceptional fax functionality and reliable performance.”

The 20 page-per-minute F-315 ships with a standard 500-sheet paper cassette and 50-sheet multipurpose bypass tray, which can be used to print letterhead, envelopes and labels. An optional 500-sheet paper cassette can be installed, bringing the total paper capacity to 1,050 sheets. The F-315 features a standard USB port to establish a connection between the device and a local PC to enable printing and TWAIN-compliant scanning. An optional 10/100 BaseT Ethernet connection can be added that allows users to share the device as a network printer.

The F-315 has an MSRP of $1,695. The toner cartridge is rated at 7,500 impressions @ 4% page coverage and the drum cartridge is rated at 20,000 impressions. Both are designed for user replacement. The MFX-1950 is a workgroup multifunctional device that replaces the MFX-1350D in the Muratec product line-up. The MFX-1950 features an 80-sheet automatic document feeder, legal-size platen glass, automatic mixed original detection, 20 page-per-minute print engine, duplex printing and the same level of fax performance as the F-315.

The MFX-1950 features a standard USB port to establish a connection between the device and a local PC to enable printing and TWAIN-compliant scanning. An optional 10/100 BaseT Ethernet connection can be added that allows users to share the device as a network printer.

Users requiring advanced multifunction performance can upgrade to the OfficeBridge Plus workflow solution. Once installed, OfficeBridge Plus enables color scanning to e-mail, PC folder and FTP, PCbased faxing, browser-based machine set-up and administrative control, and inbound fax routing to email.

“The MFX-1950 is an exceptional value as it delivers cost-effective print, copy, fax and scan performance to the workgroup,” says D’Emidio. “The MFX-1950 enables a customer to replace a stand alone printer with a device that provides similar print performance, however adds benefits such as letter/legal copying, scanning and faxing. And by increasing the yield on the imaging supplies we’ve helped customers dramatically lower their operating costs over the life of the product.”

Both are designed for user replacement. The MFX-3550 Professional Edition is a compact, workgroup multifunctional device that replaces the MFX-3050 in the Muratec product line-up. Featuring standard PCL6 and PostScript3 support, and a highspeed 10/100 BaseT Ethernet connection, the MFX-3550 Professional Edition can be easily integrated into a variety of customer networks, delivering exceptional print, fax and scan functionality. Nonnetworked users can connect to the MFX-3550 Professional Edition by utilizing the standard high-speed USB 2.0 port.

“The MFX-3550 Professional Edition is a strategic product for Muratec as it allows us to address the printing needs of customers in non-Windows environments,” says D’Emidio. “By combining a robust print engine, with broad PDL support, we expect to fully meet the diverse printing needs of our customers.”

In addition to powerful printing capabilities the 35 page-per-minute MFX-3550 Professional Edition features a standard 50-sheet automatic document feeder, letter-size platen glass and 33.6 Kbps fax modem that combine to create a robust, not to mention cost-effective, workgroup solution. The 4-line LCD and redesigned control panel offer an intuitive user experience.

The MFX-3550 Professional Edition features a USB host port, conveniently located on the front of the machine, that enables users to print documents directly from a standard USB flash drive. Users may also scan documents directly onto the flash drive as TIFF, PDF or JPEG images.

The unit ships with a standard 250-sheet paper cassette and 50-sheet multipurpose bypass tray, which can be used to print letterhead, envelopes and labels. An optional 250-sheet paper cassette can be installed, bringing the total paper capacity to 550 sheets.

The MFX-3550 Professional Edition has an MSRP of $1,695. The mono-component imaging cartridge is rated at 10,000 impressions based on the ISO/IEC 19752 standard and is designed for user replacement.
