Oak Technology's Page Description Language Featured In Ricoh's AP3800C
Oak Technology, a provider of embedded solutions for optical-storage and digital-imaging markets, announced that its IPS/5C page description language (PDL) is included as the standard print emulation in Ricoh's AP3800C tandem color laser printer. Oak's flexible, compatible and high-performing PDLs are specifically designed to enable OEMs to rapidly deploy printers and multifunction peripherals and provide them a distinct competitive advantage. This win secures a foothold in the tandem color market, is another win for Oak with a major industry leader and is a result of the companies' long-standing partnership.
IPS/5C is Oak's color PDL emulation and is fully compatible with Hewlett-Packard's PCL 5C. It is integrated with Oak's embedded foundation technology -- IPS (Integrated Print System). Oak provides source code and a full set of engineering documentation to allow OEMs to customize the interpreters for specific market requirements.
The Ricoh AP3800C series delivers speed and complete on-line document finishing. The AP3800C is a 28 page-per-minute full color and 38 page-per-minute monochrome tandem laser printer even when duplex printing. Currently the product is shipping worldwide.
Manufacturers and partners who have integrated Oak Technology's printer and multifunction technology include Canon, Hewlett-Packard, Ricoh, Sharp, Toshiba TEC and Xerox. Oak Technology has supplied peripheral controller technology to over 40 OEMs worldwide, representing 80 percent of the printing peripheral market.
